On arrival allocated 506 room one of the turret rooms with steps
I tripped up on step the light was dim and could no see the steps went to reception and and this was rectified room
507 which was better standard and very happy staff were great enjoyed I stay at royal hotel only twice a year and they look after me very well and I will cotinue to keep going and recommend to my friends
Stayed here for one night and would not return. Public areas were dirty as was the bar. The electric plugs from tv system in bar was a joke!!! All wires twisted and plugged into adapter. Staircase was dirty and carpet was threadbare in places. Looked into the function room and it had not been cleared of glasses and drinks since a function five days earlier!!! Looked like the people had just got up and left with half drunk drinks lying on tables. Our room was very dated and the light switch for the toilet was a bit difficult to find. Finally located it behind the wall mounted tv!! Didn’t use the shower as it certainly didn’t look appealing!!! Cushions on bed were dirty. Electric wires hanging out of tv plug. We made a hasty exit without having breakfast!!! Would definitely not return to this hotel.
Traditional hotel needs some attention: single glazed sash windows mean the room would be hard to heat in winter.

Value for money, facilities were just what i needed. Breakfast was super, excellent selection of items, well cooked and tasty. Staff were very polite. I've stayed here before and will stay again.I would recommend.
