Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Pousada Castelo de Obidos, but the castle experience didn’t feel worth the room price. The room was small, musty, and didn’t match the photos, and getting there from the train station was a hassle — better communication or a shuttle would have helped. That said, I loved Obidos and the castle’s location was perfect for sightseeing.

Everyone was very friendly and we loved the medieval village inside the castle walls. It is very charming and we enjoyed walking around at night. However while the room itself was very clean, we noticed in the morning (we may stayed one night) that our bed sheets were heavily stained along the corners. We took pictures and understand they’ve been passed on to management.

It was very fun to sleep in a castle but the room smelled musty but it was built n the 700s! The castle is beautifully maintained.

Breakfast was wonderful. Freshly baked goods, coffees, eggs, fruit, etc. The rooms were inside the castle walls, very charming. Amazing views of the surrounding landscape.

Excellent stop

Excellent experience. We were in the castle. Service was excellent. Room was nice and clean and quiet. It smells musty ( not too bad though) but expected for an old castle. The town is quaint as well with shops. Had excellent meal in town and great breakfast at hotel. This was one of our favorite experiences!

Stunning setting in a centuries old tower and palace, excellent attentive staff, superb breakfast. ALERT: the property is inside a walled medieval village and not accessible by car or taxi. The hotel will meet you and bring you back to parking outside the walls.

Dining at the pousada leaves much to be desired. The staff was very attentive however it appears that the problem was in the kitchen. It took us about an hour and a half to get our order. I ordered a steak which was raw and was served with fried potato peels. My wife ordered risotto which was good. There were only two other tables with customers. There were also flies buzzing about the dining room.

Walking within castle was taxing . Too many steps .bad for my knees . Shd inform future guests about this. Amenities were also lacking - no kettle for boiling water, no bedroom slippers, no replenishment of water. Check in n check out took a long time. Only 1 porter who I must add was good . We had to wait for van n golf cart to bring luggage to our rooms . Only 1 van n 1 golf cart which starts only at 9 am. Having said all that, the views from the hotel was quite astounding n as a castle , it was interesting n quite beautiful. At breakfast only 1 service staff. The hotel is severely understaffed . The staff was helpful n good but not enough help. Area outside the hotel was nice n interesting with good restaurants n shops

Incredible hotel, actually part of the castle. Quirky, fun rooms, Energetic climb to the restaurant. Highly recommend. Guests need to be advised how to check in since it is not possible to drive to the entrance
