Excellent Staff & Great Room

This was our first time staying at the Stone Gate Inn in Orillia. We will definitely be back! The young lady who welcomed us to the hotel was so professional and friendly. Our room was very clean and I love how they offer blue bins for recycling. More hotels should do this!!! The complementary breakfast was lovely with a nice selection. Thanks for a great stay! You didn't disappoint.

The property is in a perfect spot. The staff were friendly but did not seem to be able to offer up to date help if you need photo copy etc. if you are staying for business. The rooms were a bit dirty (including bathroom) and not up to date with plugs for phones etc. Lamps were old and damaged and bedding ripped in places. The dining area had dirty table clothes and you had to look for staff if you needed more coffee or something cooked.

We arrived at 2pm after a 5 hour drive. Reception said check in was at 3pm and our room was not ready. We had to leave because we had an appointment at 3pm at another place for a seminar. Told reception I'd be back after 6pm. Check in then was good.

This was an overall great experience. Clean room, friendly staff and we had a great stay. The only thing that was frustratring was the lack of parking, which I suspect was made worse due to sections of uncleared snow, but this was the only issue during our stay.

Stone Gate Inn was a good, affordable, one night accommodation. There was good service, and the bed was very comfortable. There are a few things that could be improved. The room was a bit chilly, and I couldn't find the thermostat. Now thinking I guess that is why a heater was in the room beside the TV. The TV in the den didn't work, and there were two chairs instead of a couch (a bit odd). There were stains on the carpet and things were a bit dated. There was no bottled water available for purchase. I was told to drink the tap water (just a bit too chlorine-tasting) or go to Foodland. The breakfast was included, which was nice, but it was all carbohydrates. In one of the pictures they showed a hot tub. There is no hot tub. It was only after I booked the room that I was notified that they no longer offered shuttle service to Casino Rama. These are all little things. For the price, I was fine with the one-night stay. Having good service and a good bed are my main priorities. Would I stay here again, probably not.

Comfortable king sized bed, fridge in suite was a little loud. Staff was helpful when I forgot toothpaste. Nice location, with foodland next door I was able to eat fresh food and store it in the well equipped kitchenette
