The sofa bed is very loud, but in general, it’s a pleasant stay with them. We (two adults and two children) love the breakfast offering. The location is wonderful as well. It's super convenient to everything around, and it's easy to get to the National Theatre and take the Flytoget to the airport (vice versa).

Our stay would’ve been perfect… the room was very clean, well kept, and comfortable but the issue was the view, or lack thereof. The windows looked out to a building within 5 meters from our window, so it made us feel a bit claustrophobic. Otherwise, great location, amenities (skandinavisk skog), and breakfast!

Gem Hotel in Heart of Oslo

Very well located inverter of Oslo, the lovely old hotel that has been updated with many amenities. Hemming buffet is terrific. The front desk staff were very helpful.

Breakfast was a 10/10 in food quality and beautiful breakfast room. Bed comfort was good and bathroom was luxurious with enough counter space. Shower was a bit on the tiny side, but still workable. The location of hotel was prime.

The property was so perfectly located. You can walk to many attractions and shopping on Karl Johan Gate. The hotel itself is lovely, clean, with a very friendly staff. The included breakfast was wonderful. The selection was much more than I ever expected. Truly delicious! I would definitely stay at The Karl Johan again.

I had the most wonderful and perfect stay. The staff went above and beyond ensuring I was comfortable in my room. Due to the ventilation system, my room was uncomfortably cold. With limited room availabilities due to being at full capability, the staff provided 2 small heaters and checked in daily to ensure I was comfortable. The location is easy 10-15 min walking distance to majority of museums, shopping, and attractions. It is also in a very safe location. There is city noises and rooms are a bit small, but this is what to expect from all nearby hotels...some worse. I highly recommend getting the Oslo pass for free entry to the museums and tea time at the Hotel Bistrol. Lastly, I have to say the breakfast choices are incredible.

The hotel is in a beautiful location within walking distance to all the sights. Comfortable beds and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast in superb with a wide range to choose from and very well presented and cooked. The hotel interior seems very gloomy and the dark grey walls, carpets, curtains and net curtains made our room seem much darker than it looked on Expedia which was a little disappointing but we didn't really spend that much time in it.

Excellent hotel with high-end accommodations. Very comfortable as the hotel has AC (unlike most of the hotels we stayed in in Norway.) The hotel is right on Karl Johan Gate, the main street and a pedestrian-only section of town with many stores and restaurants. Bus/tram stops are a 5 -10 min walk away and you can get to any part of town from here. Breakfast selection and quality of food was amazing!

Our stay at the Karl Johan Hotel was truly exceptional! The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Oslo, but what made our visit unforgettable was the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, every team member went out of their way to make us feel welcome and taken care of. They were warm, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. The level of service we received was outstanding and made a huge difference in our overall experience. We can’t recommend the Karl Johan Hotel and its amazing team enough.
