The Phoenix House - Epic Tiny Home GEM on Volcanic Lava Field

Come celebrate your Life & new beginnings at the acclaimed Phoenix House!

Featured in countless media around the world, this epic, off-grid tiny home creation at the feet of an active Volcano has won the hearts of countless international visitors..

Enjoy a magic, memorable vacation in this unique, custom made tiny temple on some of the newest land on Earth ~

Fix breakfast in a utilitarian kitchen and head out onto the front porch to behold otherworldly vistas of volcanic scenery.

After a day of exploring majestic nature, enjoy a hot shower and sprawl out on the couch before retiring to a lofted bedroom.

This custom tiny house was designed by Will Beilharz and built by ArtisTree Homes. Considerate Caretaker lives on site nearby.

This Unique, Off-Grid Tiny Home (450sqft) is fully furnished with a modern yet farmhouse ambiance. We have ample electricity, high-speed wifi, and nice hot showers!

The Phoenix House comes fully functional with a kitchenette, bedroom loft, living area, and bathroom.

The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, drip coffee feature, small dinette table, propane stove top, and refrigerator.

The bedroom loft, which you reach by a modest stairway, has a plush and cozy queen sized bed with big windows for a view of the ocean, and bedside lighting. Sleeps 2.

Surrounded by lava, the scene here is surreal. You are at Pele`s feet, just 4 miles away from the world`s most active Volcano -- Kilauea. From your window, you can see the plume of smoke where the lava meets the ocean creating the newest land on earth. Smoking Volcano, Glistening Ocean, and miles and miles of dramatic black lava fields are all part of your expansive view and elemental experience here.

PeleMa has blessed us to be the Caretakers of this Sacred Sanctuary. We are joyous, kind, compassionate, considerate and respectful.

When possible, we also offer the following:

- Airport Pick Up (Hilo is about 45 minutes away)

- Car Rental

- Sightseeing & Guided Tours to local sacred sites

Please inquire for more info.

We look forward to welcoming you to the magical Big Island!!

The Phoenix house is completely yours.

Access to all kitchen tools, bathroom, and loft.

There is a front and side porch as well.

You will share a driveway and parking area with the Ohana House, about 200 yards away.

The Phoenix House is in an eclectic, rustic neighborhood built onto cooled down, black lava fields at the feet of Kilauea Volcano (about 4 miles away). Over the years, other adventurous souls have discovered Kalapana Gardens and decided to call it home, so there are alot more people and dwellings here in recent years. So yes, it`s still a private neighborhood, but there are many interesting houses and new residents around.

Besides being the sunniest, driest part of the island, you are surrounded by epic views of the volcano, and black lava fields as far as the eye can see. Yet it’s very close to festive farmers markets, black sandy beaches, and gorgeous coastal drives. Enjoy this elemental vortex unlike any other!

We are near:

* The famous `Red Road` (one of the `Top 10 most beautiful drives in America`) (5 min away)

* Kalapana-Kaimu`s Authentic Local Hawaiian Style weekly Farmer`s Markets on Wednesday Nights, and Saturday Mornings featuring the finest local people, music, yummy foods & crafts, Uncle`s Awa Bar--a festive scene not to be missed! (5 min)

* Kehena [Clothing Optional] Beach w/Sunbathing, Swimming, Sunday Drum Circle, Dolphins & Whales

* Pahoa town - A 15 minute drive gets you to Restaurants, Health food store, Shopping, Pharmacy and Services in historic Pahoa Village.

PAHOA, HAWAII was just awarded 2nd place in Outside Magazine`s Travel Awards 2014 for `Best Adventure Hub`!

Also, we are a little off-the-beaten path, and understand that we are not for everyone.

Here are some quirks / guidelines to be aware of:

* Quiet Hours from 9pm-8am, as there are neighbors nearby and sound travels easily on the lava

* The Phoenix House is one of a few awesome homes at Jade`s Lava Sanctuary. It`s generally a private neighborhood though, and there`s a private driveway to come in.

* There are a few long term, considerate caretakers that live on site. Also the cleaning staff is usually on site from 10am-2pm in case you need anything. Everyone is friendly and considerate, but they will leave you alone unless you ask for something.

* We are off-grid, please be conservative with power, especially at night when we run on batteries. Don`t leave lights on all night.

* You might see an occasional mosquito, blister beetle, or gecko, this is the tropics..

We do have two fans in the Phoenix House, but there is no A/C. Yes you can run the fan at night while you`re sleeping.

* Yes, we have ample power and good wifi.

A car is necessary. You don`t need a 4wd to stay here, but the clearance to the road is kinda low so drive carefully. We do offer car rental sometimes. : )

The weather is generally always warm, sunny and nice, about 90% of the time. : ) It rains frequently, but usually for short periods of time.

Considerate Caretaker is available and on-site. Let us know if you need anything to be more comfortable during your stay! :)

A truly otherworldly experience! It felt almost like being on the moon, or the end of the earth... but comfortable and relaxing! We very much enjoyed the multiple rainbows, the crazy volcano-controlled weather, the feeling of isolation, the lovely, intricate "lawns" of black lava. And we got to meet some of the neighbors, which was sweet.Be aware: The area where this property is WAY out there, so there really aren't very many "touristy" things nearby. Our least favorite aspects: The wind noise was constant (a bit disconcerting for our sleep), and there was an unexpectedly lot of ambient light (path markers, neighbors driving by or with lights on all night, etc) for being "in the middle of nowhere".

ERUPTING VOLCANO!!!

This house was SO AWESOME. I could totally live here. It was so fun & so unique & so pretty. My 6 yr old daughter LOVED to explore the property & follow geckos around. We met Dani one morning & she mentioned the volcano started erupting the night before! (We planned on visiting it later in the day), but we decided to jump in the car immediately! **WE ARE SO GLAD WE DID!!** We caught the eruption just in time that day before the clouds came in--- THEN we found out the volcano stopped erupting the very next morning!!! ...We are from Michigan & I do not believe our little family will EVER get to see an erupting volcano together ever again! WOW!!We were so lucky that day! This house was our precious luck charm! (We also saw a double rainbow that same morning!!) We had so much fun! This house was perfect!!! Thank you Jade, Dani, & Paul for everything!!!!!!! We hope to come back someday, whether it's 2 years or 10 years from now-- If this house is still available to stay in, we will absolutely come back! Love love LOVE, the Lacy Family

Loved this open air tiny home. Such a great breeze blowing through the space. Great communication with host, clean and well stocked for such a small space. Sunset took my breath away while eating outside for dinner.
