As someone who usually solo travels and ALMOST did this time, it should have been made known that the hosts live on the property and occupy their side of the home while they rent the “casita” out. The listing advertises the full property but expect the unexpected once you arrive. Gina asked what time I’d like to check in. This was an immediate red flag but I thought, surely not. After letting her know my planned arrival she stated “I will only be available to check you in from 1-3 or after 5:30.” I didn’t know VRBO rentals needed to be “checked in” by the host. From my understanding, we’re given check in details the day of. Being given rules and a walkthrough of the property surely wasn’t on my Arizona bingo card for 7pm after a full day of travel, but here I was. Gina gave a few recommendations which was nice but the over communicating and questioning was a bit annoying. It kinda gave the feeling that we were being watched or they were wondering why we hadn’t let out for the day yet. There was no oven/stove to prepare food so we had no choice but to eat out. There were two cameras we actually say; one facing the pool outside the casita and the other facing the pool from outside the owners side of the home. I understand this is your home but had the listing stated that the owners would be there during the stay, I would have booked another property for my trip. Extremely disappointing and unsatisfied. But after crying about it, I made the best of my stay, celebrating my 30th.
