Pipestone is a holy place for many of the tribes in the surrounding area. This is a place where many natives still come to send their prayers upward. You will see the prayer fabric which has been hung from trees along the now paved trail. The monument is open to the general public as well as the museum where local natives demonstrate pipemaking. Several stores in town sell authentic Native American jewelry, clothing, and crafts.
