This hotel is beautiful. The staff are super amazing and accomodating. I had an issue with the room which is not even worth mentioning it because they solved it and they upgraded us to a better room with a beautiful big balcony. The food at the buffet and restaurants was really good and the drinks as well for an all inclusive!! They made a small decoration for my daughters bday in the room!! I really enjoy my time at the Riu palace RM!! The snacks restaurant “pepes food” was my favorite the grill meat uff to die for!! Definitely will go back

The only thing I did not like was the room we were given it was next to the workers maintenance room day and night loud noise people talking moving things around it was hard to really rest ! Also it had a strong smell of mold !

This resort has amazing food even on the buffet. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Ricardo helped us book excursions and even helped us reschedule after I was sunburned. There is a convenient store and doctor at the bottom of the driveway. We have stayed at a lot of different resorts here and this was by far the best!! The beach was amazing too. When you step outside you feel you’re really in paradise. Our AC broke and they had it fixed in 30 mins. When we elected not to have our room serviced that day they called us to see if we needed towels or mini bar drinks. You’re treated like a millionaire! Highly recommended! I don’t have one complaint at all. They do everything perfectly. Plus no sales pitch to get you to buy a timeshare.everyone was treated equally. 5 stars

This is a very clean well kept hotel. Love the fact that guests dont need to make a reservation for the specialty restaurants and the lobby cafe always had some good treats. Food at the buffet was great and had a lot of variety, service was also great there, especially Ezequiel. Check-in process was smooth and very accommodating. On the other hand, pools could be cleaner and pool area bar needs more bartenders at peak hours. A recommendation would be to provide electronic wrist bands so guests do not have to worry about so many cards, ex room keys and towel cards.

The resort was beautiful and clean. The service was excellent. The food could have been better, but it was fine (I'd recommend the buffets over the restaurants). I would definitely stay here again. However, as much as I liked the resort, book directly through their website. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA! This "$850 resort credit" that is advertised on the Expedia website (and honestly the only reason I booked through Expedia rather than directly through Riu in the first place) is NOT a credit at all! It is a smattering of discount coupons that you likely don't even want to use. And discount coupons are not the same as a credit! This is wildly misleading and deceptive. The problem is that when my travel companions and I figured out this was going to be the case, we called Expedia multiple times, both before arrival and upon arrival. Their customer service was terrible. Before arrival, they kept dodging the question and telling us if it was an issue, they'd deal with it after we checked in. After we checked it, they basically said "tough luck, too bad for you" since they already had our money by that point. Wasted multiple hours on the phone with them. Again, great resort. Just don't book through Expedia.

One of the Most Disappointing Customer Service Experiences – Riu Palace Riviera Maya I’ve never written a review like this, but after our stay at Riu Palace Riviera Maya, I feel compelled to share. We booked two rooms via Expedia for May 28–June 3, 2025. Due to severe weather and flight delays, we missed our connection and couldn’t arrive until 2:00 AM on May 30. The airline rebooked us and adjusted our return to June 4—so we simply asked Riu to shift our stay by one day (May 29–June 4). Same number of nights, same rooms. Expedia confirmed they reached out to Riu Reservations. I also emailed the resort directly, clearly explaining the situation and urgency. Despite being on-site, staying in rooms 0005 and 0006, all I received were copy-paste replies saying front desk and managers couldn't help due to “policy.” Riu Reservations didn’t respond until June 1—denying the request with no flexibility. What’s worse, I saw available rooms online for June 3, yet they still refused to assist. We weren’t asking for anything free—just a shift due to weather-related travel issues. Not a single person showed empathy or took responsibility. We spent thousands to stay here, yet were left scrambling for a place to sleep. Riu treated us like reservation numbers, not guests. We deserved better—and they failed us.

Very friendly staff and clean premises. Always treated with respect and in a timely manner. Food was good overall and the variety was just right. I wish they had a bit more of Mexican desserts and not so much bread. The shows were of good quality but I wish they were more about the Mexican culture. Mexico is a country full of culture and it would be nice to share it with the world. My kid was excited about seeing Kalu but he was not present during our stay.

This place is truly top-notch. The food is excellent, and the location is fantastic. The staff are among the most professional and helpful I’ve ever encountered—they genuinely go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure you want to return. Housekeeping is thorough, with your room checked twice a day. I highly recommend this hotel. The stuff is what makes this hotel beautiful. The food is very very good.
