I've visited Portage many times throughout my 33 years and have stayed at many of its motels and hotels. This is by far the best. Staff is friendly and professional, it's very clean with great decor, fantastic breakfast, and wonderful pool area with waterslide. Definitely intent to return and wouldn't waste time with other Portage hotels/motels/inns. Only con, you may need to book early and price jumps were significant day to day on booking sites.

Great breakfast, nice pool and hot tub with a separate waterslide so no worries about big waves into the pool 🙂. The staff were wonderful and helpful, it was a great time with my family!

The common areas around the property were quite dirty (ie elevator floor). There were several areas of damage (dings) in the wall of our room that were only partially repaired. There was obvious past water damage around the window that had been repaired poorly. The hotel is quite isolated with no outside spaces to encourage guests to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Just was quite disappointing when compared with other Microtels we have stayed at. It is not that old so we were quite surprised at the state of the property.

The best thing about the hotel was the bed and the breakfast. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice hot breakfast. Our room was not clean to my standards upon arrival. When housekeeping didn’t come after the first day, I requested it. I inquired 3 times the second day and they still never came. We stayed 3 nights and were never given new towels, beds made or garbage cleared. I let them know and was given a discount- but I really just wanted a clean room.
