The room was nice, but the bathroom was definitely not updated. Bathroom had a sewer smell at times, the bathtub was old and marked up, and shower had rusty old marbled tiles. We could hear animals or bugs at night in our vents near the door. Cockroach seen at lounge bar and one in our bathroom. Some staff were friendly, some don’t even make eye contact, will only attend to you if you tip first! Spent most of the week trying to find out where everything was, had to use cellphone too much for restaurants and information. Overall, would not go back.

The staff members are not friendly to LGBTQ+ and interracial travelers and couples. We are extremely upset and disappointed. We didn't get service almost every time we went to the buffet, the rooms are dirty and smells like sewer, and the excursion was not what we paid for. Many other guests we talked to were disappointed as well in the resort.

The room service was okay! I had to ask them to refill the body-wash and shampoo, but they didn’t seem to care after following up twice with housekeeping. The variety of food at the restaurants was amazing! We tried five different places: Casa Bella, Italian, El Olive, Mediterranean, Limbo, French, M.E.A.T - Steakhouse, and Yurta, Mongolian. Casa Bella was the worst because the pastas had no taste. All of those places were amazing! The buffets were nice too!

The property and the staff are great, some of the restaurants (a la carte) were great, the room was very nice. There is some room to improve in the buffet and night shows. The beach and pools were lovely🍹

We booked expedia and second time in Bahía. First was in Mexico. Rooms both times were musty and smelled moldy. Might be their expedia rooms idk. Complained this time and they offered another "emergency" available room. Smelled of sewage. They have backup somehow and overheard others with similar complaint. Finally involved a manger third day and he accommodated with another room. Much better, but still small amount of sewage smell in bathroom. Took it nonetheless. Otherwise food was good, especially the fresh fruit. Weather exceptional, beach very nice, save for all the vendors (par for the island). À la carte 8/10. Entertainment acceptable. Overall 8/10. I'd try another resort for variety at this price point as we had sad start to both resorts.

This trip was meant to celebrate my mother after surgery, but the hotel failed on multiple fronts. Reservations weren’t honored, transportation was unhelpful, and staff were dismissive. Most concerning, my mother’s bathroom glass shower shattered and was never properly cleaned, posing a serious safety risk. Not recommended for families or anyone with medical needs.

Nice resort, clean. Staff mostly friendly, think sometimes a little overwhelmed with the influx of tourism but I'm sure over time, they will get the hang of it! Rooms cleaned, fridges restocked daily. We had a swimout suite, wish we had known it was in the shade for most of the day, so quite a bit cooler than main pools. Good selection of foods each day, always something to choose. Beach was nice & close to resort, very little seaweed issues (we went beginning of December) water a little choppy so not good for non or basic swimmers!

My stay was perfect. The staff, ABSOLUTELY all of them, are extremely attentive and kind. I would recommend this resort a thousand times for the exceptional service. From the reception to the waiters and room service. Armando from reception, Manuel, Freetown, and Jhoenfry, the famous "Mickey Mouse," you made our family vacation unforgettable.

We loved everything about our stay at Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda! The staff is amazing! They are all so nice and so eager to make sure you have a wonderful vacation. We loved our swim up pool room because they do close all the pools at 6pm. That part is a little disappointing, however they use the large pool to put on excellent performances in the evening. The swim up pool rooms give you more time to enjoy swimming. The beach is beautiful with plenty of shade from beautiful palm trees and umbrellas. The water was a little cloudy when we were there but honestly I think it was from the small boats that were offering tube rides. I wish we would’ve walked further down the beach away from them to see if the water was clearer. The food was great! We bought Travelan off Amazon that we took before meals just to make sure we didn’t have any stomach issues from food or drinks. We never had any issues. The amazing smash burgers you can order via room service (even late at night) was my 9 year old picky son’s favorite food! He is still talking about those! I do recommend getting a small power strip that has extra outlets, USB, and C-ports. I actually had two and I put one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. You will need it! Also, do carry-on and a personal item bag if you can help it. SO much easier through customs! Use portable vacuum seal bags! FYI, there is a lot more options for souvenirs at the airport when you leave than resort gift shop, cheaper too.

Check in over 2 hours late, no water temperature regulation. Scalding hot water only. Toilet seat broken. WiFi down for 2 days, can’t connect to TV or make restaurant reservations. Staff very lazy avoid making eye contact with you so they then can’t help you. Only hard working staff was Sports Bar, Rosa and Emmanuel and Carlos from beach bar.
