My girlfriend and I stayed at Live Aqua Punta Cana to celebrate her milestone 30th birthday. While much of the resort was beautiful, our final night completely changed our experience.
We paid extra for a Romantic Dinner on the beach, expecting a premium four-course experience. Instead, we were ignored, skipped while other couples were served, and waited over two hours without receiving the meal nor any refill on drinks. We ultimately left without being served the full experience. The “replacement” offered was a standard all-inclusive dish in our rooms, not the private beach dinner we paid for.
As a same-sex couple, the treatment felt dismissive and discriminatory. Although management later apologized and promised a full refund, we had to follow up repeatedly & ultimately was ignored. I had to dispute the charge with my bank.
I’m sharing this so other LGBTQ+ travelers are aware. It’s not worth it, we even had Aqua Club. That does not guarantee respectful or equitable treatment.
