Quaint house in Reading downtown

House is located in downtown Reading and accessible to Windsor and Woodstock. House has a very cozy feeling. Few things I think are important to note: water pressure is very weak and hot water as well. It was just my husband and I. We could not shower within hour if each other or no hot water. Our visit was short so it didn’t become a major problem. James was excellent when we called about my husband misplacing key. He ended up finding in 10 min but James was helpful and answered phone. This visit was for quick getaway and house served us well. I would recommend to anyone wanting a home near hiking and Woodstock.

This Old House

This could be a great house but it is in need of maintenance and renovations inside and out. It needs updating and curb appeal. The sheets, towels and couches needs to be replaced. The washing machine needs to be repaired the house also has very low water pressure. If you are truly needing a 4 bedroom be aware that the downstairs bedroom is in what was once a formal so whoever sleeps upstairs will be coming through your room to get the bathroom and any part of the house. A wall and a door could fix this easily. We only sleep in the downstairs and the bed was comfortable. The heating system worked well, the neighborhood is ok.

Great location and space.

Plenty of space for everyone. Loved the kitchen. Location right in reading was perfect for us. Internet never did work while we were there. And that was problematic since I had work to do while I was visiting family for thanksgiving. I spoke with the owner, as well as Comcast, and never was able to get access. Owner noted that I could get over by the library and connect to the public WiFi.

Convenient to GMHA

This property was the perfect location for a friend’s weekend at the Green Mountain Horse Association! Only 11 minutes to GMHA and adjacent to a municipal lot large enough to pull a horse trailer into.

Quirky but fun little place for a family

The property was clean, comfortable and had a nicely stocked kitchen for all of our cooking needs. The bedroom situation was a little unexpected, as the “bedroom” on the first floor is actually essentially the front room with a staircase up to the top floor! This is probably a better place for a family to stay as opposed to a group of college friends, but overall we had a great time and it was comfortable place to come back to after a wet day of spring skiing!

Christmas family time

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! We had an amazing time!! The house was so comfortable and homey. We loved the art that adorned the walls, the spacious kitchen, and the cozy comforters!! Walking distance to such nice markets was such a gift. The pups enjoyed the walks to the waterfalls and we appreciated the friendly neighbors who sanded the walk when it got slippery. Both were icing on the cake of a perfect Christmas getaway. Thank you again!!!

Rustic and quaint

We enjoyed our stay in Reading. It was rustic and quaint, and an ideal stay for our family. It is an easy drive to Woodstock and Queechee, so most definitely an ideal jumping off to major tourist sites. And it is a comfortable home to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

Great stay in heartfelt town

My family and I really enjoyed our weekend at this property. It was within walking distance to two great local stores as well as a waterfall! The yard was large and clean, house was well kept and kitchen was great! I enjoyed having so much space to cook all weekend. Our daughters loved that they each had their own room with plenty of space and the house was well kept up with for being built in the 1800s. Would love to stay again and check out more of the town! My only suggestion would be to cut back the foliage at the end of the driveway- it made it difficult to see if there were cars coming down the hill.

Quick Family Escape

It was a quiet and peaceful last minute getaway before the kiddos start back up with school again AND it was a great getaway from daily life from the last few months for a few days! Our dog had plenty of space to roam around and for the kids to throw a frisbee as well! There’s so much to see and do in this area of VT! The owners were very responsive!!

Very comfortable and convenient

The only "complaint" I have is that the provided sheets weren't sorted very well, and I couldn't find any to fit the king and slept on blankets I had brought along. No big inconvenience. Otherwise, a fantastic stay, beds and furniture very comfortable after long days horseshowing. Across the street from the general store, so coffee and snacks were right at hand.

Delightful home in truly beautiful surroundings.

Our family enjoyed three peaceful nights at this wonderful old house. This was our first visit to the area and we absolutely loved it. The house is full of character. The beds are comfortable and we very much enjoyed relaxing in the living room with the wood stove keeping us warm. We hope to return.

Comfortable farm house, convenient location

We had a wonderful time during our stay! The house was comftable and spacious. We enjoyed the large kitchen while at the house. We also ventured out from the convenient location. My daughter went each day to GMHA for camp and we had fun mountain biking at Killington and touring around the area! Thanks James and family for sharing your wonderful home with us!

We were very pleased with this house!

We had a great time here! The house was clean, it felt like home and the beds were comfy. Some of us came to ski - Okemo was only 20-25 minutes away, others to antique and explore. Overall it was a great experience. Thank you!

The highlight of this year so far!!

James was a fantastic host and his home was everything we could have hoped for and more!! His home is just as depicted in the pictures listed and in a great location just a short ride from Okemo and not far from Killington as well. The property was clean and well maintained and we were provided with cleaning supplies so that we could keep it tidy. James was there for any and every question we had and was very quick to respond to all of our inquiries. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to spend a few days out in beautiful Vermont. And to any new visitors I would highly recommend visiting Harpoon Brewery; it's a short drive and they have tasty food and great beer. Thank you again so much to James and his wife for allowing us to stay in their home, we can't wait to come back again next year!!
