The hotel is very well located. You can walk to visit all the tourist attractions in the beautiful and well-preserved medieval town of Monsaraz. I booked the cheapest room available and although it was nicely decorated, I didn't like it because it was tiny and had no window, just a small skylight in the ceiling. The breakfast was simple but tasty.

We loved the laid back, slow pace of Monsaraz. The room was well equipt with everything we needed and so unique. Breakfast service was delicious and wandering around the castle, drinking a coffee overlooking the surrounding area was a special treat.

Lovely cosy hotel right in the centre of this hilltop village.Parking was plentiful just outside the city walls. If you’re there on a Sunday or Monday restaurant options are limited to one or two choices.

Beautiful location. We knew we were staying in a castle that's been retrofitted so we didn't have high expectations for the modern amenities but were pleasantly surprised. The room was quiet, comfortable and the AC worked perfectly. Amazing view out of the window in our Goa suite, and delicious food just around the corner. Would definitely return

Looked like a picture from 1001 arabian nights in the centre of historic town. Too bad the shower didn't work and stray cat entered our room from outside, so had to sleep with window closed. No staff around to talk to for a solution.

The check in was easy with parking nearby. We later found that you can drive in to the property to drop bags off and some people were parking there. Our room was fairly small but OK. The real problem was that therre was no opening windows and the air con was really only a weak fan which had no effect on the room temperature which was uncomfortable. We found out that we were not the only guests with this problem. There were no staff around to discuss the issue. I tried calling with no response. I found the bed hard and uncomfortable but that may be a personal thing. Breakfast was fairly standard but OK. There is a small roof terrace with old basic folding chairs in need of replacement.

When we arrived there was a note on the door to call for check in. We waited 25 minutes outside in the blazing sun. Owner was not friendly or helpful. We booked the suite which was spacious but no extra amenities. On a Monday there are no restaurants open in this little village and there are no markets. Yet, the B&B doesn’t provide a small fridge or even a place to make a hot cup of tea. The room was damp feeling and musty. It just needs a good airing out and a dehumidifier. The clothes in my suitcase were damp after leaving. The rooftop patio is beautiful, just beware of the steep stairs. The bed was comfy. The bathroom in the suite has a step down bathroom. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. And the woman who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms was very friendly and helpful.

Property looked great but Expedia messed up our booking and the rooms were not available. I am specifically writing this review to complain about Expedia. They left us stranded with zero help. I had to call and they were more interested in blaming the hotel, who never got a confirmation, than helping us out. The call was disconnected and we were never contacted again. Realized now Expedia makes it it possible to contact by email (does not exist) or chat with live person. With no cellular connection makes it difficult to make calls. They’ve deleted the reservation in the app as if it never even existed. On the property itself that we did not stay the manager was very helpful in letting us hang in lobby using wifi and referring to nearby properties. Hope one day to stay there it is worth it to spend the night in Monsaraz.

I prepaid my stay on Expedia on 26Apr2024. I underestimated the time needed to arrive at the location and arrived at 7:55pm. The check-i. period is from 3pm-7pm. I called the number listed on the property's door several times and ultimately gave up. Expedia attempted to contact the propriety as well without any success. Based on the way the owner/staff responds to any negative concerns, this should have been a warning. While there is a nostalgic component to the location, the flexibility of the staff is inexistent. Just wonder how anyone who actually was able to checking in a 4 hour window, goes to dinner and perhaps forgets his/her keys as there will be no way to get on as nobody will answer the phone. Sorry for the rant but while I'm vacation, things do happened and the unintended can and will happen such as this delay that was not originally planned. Ultimately we drove to Évora and used Hilton pointw for that night. To conclude, I do not recommend this place. All the best!

Un hébergement situé à l'intérieur de la forteresse. Difficile de se rendre en voiture, on doit utiliser le stationnement gratuit à l'extérieur des murs - 5 minutes de marche. Chambre petite mais propre. Bonne climatisation, lit confortable, salle de bain petite mais fonctionnelle. Préférable de s'enregistrer en après-midi car personne à la réception en soirée. Restaurants à proximité à divers prix. On vous recommande l'endroit si vous voulez vivre une aventure hors de l'ordinaire. Nous avons beaucoup aimé et nous sommes des retraités cool!
