Our room was splendid, we had the good fortune to be in the back of the building. Our sleep was restful and restorative. The installation was very pleasant and close to many different sights around Reykjavik. Excellent service.

The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. However we were in a room on the ground floor looking straight onto the car park with the entrance door right by us. Every time someone came into the building the door slammed heavily, shaking the whole room. That, coupled with people talking loudly in the car park outside our room, and in an adjacent room, meant we didn’t sleep well at all. It’s a shame as the hotel itself is nice. However there are no staff on site so no one to raise issues about noise with. I’m sure a room away from the car park and the entry door would not have these issues but the location of our room did impact our stay so we wouldn’t stay here again.

Everything one would need from a cheap hotel room. Clean, working sink, toilet and shower, bed. Good proximity to the downtown area. Easy entry via emailed pin code to access the room and building plus a handful of free parking spots around the property. No room service (ie: New towels, garbage bin replacements) unless you pay an extra 30CAD a night and the sink and showers are destined to flood if you keep them on for too long. For the price paid and what's offered though, generally good enough. 4/5

Even though there is no staff at the hotel, staff was very helpful by phone. Getting in and out of the facility was easy. Room was clean. Internet service was good—I was able to work remotely, including via video conference. Will definitely stay here again.

Great hotel if you’re staying in the Reykjavik area. It is extremely close to the downtown area, probably a 20 minute walk. If you go during winter, bring good shoes for ice as it may be difficult to clean the ice and it can be a bit slippery. The hotel does offer free parking, but it it is first come first serve, so keep that in mind! All in all, Aska hotel was great and very prompt in their message with all the details on how to get there and have access to the hotel itself.

The room was large and clean and warm with a nice bathroom, there were no staff about and it wasn't easy to enter the building (you have to use a small keypad on the door handle as the touchscreen doesn't work) There is a kettle, and cheap coffee but not tea bags. Towels and soap were provided. Compared to other places in Reykjavik its quite a good price.

The hotel was really clean, but quite few things to improve: firstly NO STAFF AT ALL and the entrance had a code black in black that it goes unnoticed. I ran into quite a few travellers looking to get a card. Yes - email received but no details where the pin code was to get in. Secondly, my room was next to open air and the letter at the door would fly away and we almost never got any morning coffee since cleaning staff wouldn’t know that we had no coffee in the room. It would have been nice to have someone to let you in and explain these things. Would have been waiting in the cold outside if nobody gets in in front door. Not sure why there was an “useless” lobby with no guidance or pamphlets. Other than those annoying details, the hotel was very clean and new.

Overall - the room was comfortable, and a good size. The check-in was simple and the room was easy to find. The bathroom was lovely and was a much higher standard finish than the bedroom. A fridge was supplied but some forks and spoons would have been better than 2 wooden stirrers. The shower was lovely - but the door is too small which results in the bathroom flooding and the lobby is very nicely designed - the rest of the hotel is not of the same standard.

Check in is a nightmare if you are flying in from the states and arrive early. There is no attendant and the lobby is basically a waiting area. Most of the times the codes do not work until your check in time and even though this property does list as a pay at property - it does not work that way. That said, the rooms were lovely if a bit stuffy and warm. There is not daily maid service and your trash does pile up.

The bathroom was badly designed. Shower area is not a full enclosure and the shower floor was not slanted toward the drain so the water flowed outside the shower areas. The sink was so small and the mirror and the tray in front of the mirror was in the way that you cannot even wash your face without hitting the tray in front of the mirror. Whoever designed that bathroom was a bone head. Not fully thought of and never used what he has designed.
