The little museum in the restaurant was remarkably interesting! It was a dark walk to the restaurant though! And the room was acceptable but not fabulous. The bathroom linoleum didn’t smell fresh.

The check in the man was rude pretended to not speak English. 5 min later we catch him in full English conversation. We were not given any details about breakfast, pool or spa. Had to wonder around and try to figure it all out. Couldn’t get in anywhere to use hot tub or pool. Breakfast was packed and limited food. So if you were not there 1st you basically got nothing.

A surprise find

If you are looking for a super clean, simple place to stay where the staff is very friendly and the views are fantastic, look no further than the Hali Country Hotel. We were very pleased with our two-night stay and really enjoyed the dinners we had at the restaurant. The continental breakfast was also very good.

We enjoyed our stay at Hali country hotel. It was very close the Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the seafood soup and the artic char were both delicious. The included breakfast buffet was good as well. After dinner, we walked through the museum on the property, which we thought was interesting. Our only complaint was that the one communal fridge was very small and we couldn't put any of our food in it. (Just so you can prepare for that). Overall, great stay and would recommend.

The room was by far the most expensive on my week long trip to Iceland. However, it was the most basic - I get it: location. The bed was too soft and springy and the coffee machine didn’t work in the morning (when you need it!). On a positive note, the restaurant served some great food and service was good and friendly. Overall a middle-of-road experience

Hali Country Hotel feels more like a budget motel than a traditional hotel, but it serves its purpose for a short stopover in the area. When you first arrive off the main road, you’ll see the museum, restaurant, and reception building. It’s best not to unload your bags right away when checking in, as the rooms are located about 400 meters further down the property, closer to the sea. The route to the rooms takes you past several residential-looking buildings and a commercial property. Check-in was very quick—no passport was needed. Room 13: The room was a decent size, featuring two chairs, side tables, a dresser with a chair, and a basic white cupboard. The decor was very simple: baby blue walls with white wooden furniture. It was quite warm inside, with a lovely view of the mountains. However, there were no in-room coffee or tea-making facilities—these are available in a communal building with a coffee station and shared seating area. The bed was not very comfortable—more of a limp twin setup than a proper double. There was no kettle, no shampoo, conditioner, or body lotion provided. However, a hairdryer was available. The blackout curtains were ineffective, letting in a significant amount of light at night. Bathroom: Surprisingly spacious, but there was a small window that looked directly toward a neighboring building, which raised some privacy concerns—though it did help with ventilation.
