We renovated this Cortijo, retaining its traditional feel.
The Cortijo is situated just 10 minutes from the white washed village of Riogordo.
The Lake is just 15 minutes with restaurants and 25 minutes you will hit the beach with many beach cafes with a true Spanish feel.
Ideal for those seeking peace, tranquillity and relaxation in a truly outstanding property.
Cortijo Cuscurro and Horno de Lena lies amongst olive groves with mature gardens with colourful shrubs trees and a unusually shaped pool.

Local area and village life:

Riogordo is a typical Moorish style 'white' rural Spanish village. It nestles at an altitude of 400 metres in the hills just 35 minutes drive inland from Malaga Airport in the Axarquia region of Andalusia.
Malaga City is not too far away for a day of Culture.
The area benefits from its proximity to the coastal area of Torre del mar with beaches , fish restaurants, but has generally remained unaffected by mass tourism.
Prices are Spanish prices here , not tourist prices.
Shops and supermarket owners are friendly and accommodating, yet very reasonably priced.
You can eat out very cheaply or enjoy cooking in the Cortijo , BBQs and even have paella cooked for you in the Courtyard during your stay.
The nearest restaurant is Ortegas, famous for its slow cooked lamb, among many other dishes.

Riogordo is famous world-wide for its annual 'El Paso' at Easter; with a cast of over 400 inhabitants it is unique.
It also has numerous bars restaurants, shops and even a large supermarket.
The unique town of Comares can be seen ,clinging to it's mountain top it is visible throughout valley. It still has the remains of it's Moorish heritage. A town of narrow streets , a central plaza & stunning views of the Axarquia & the sea.

We were a group of 17 ages ranged from 7-46! A fabulous time of fun and laughter had here…plenty of room and the pool and fire pit were winners all round! The proximity and location of the house to the local villages eg comares and the beach was perfect!

From start to finish and everything in between Lisa and her beautiful Cortijo were amazing! The house is stunning, in a beautiful setting with every possible extra covered from hairdryers to pool umbrellas from spacious bathrooms to sandwich toasters! However the star of the show is Lisa! She helped me plan my best friend’s Hen Weekend organising airport transfers, cooking amazing tapas, finding me someone to teach salsa and then recommending the talented Eliza to sing for us whilst we ate an incredible plate of paella. Lisa, words can’t thank you and Julian enough. From the bottom of my heart you are one in a million Xx

Stunning farmhouse

We have had a family get together in the outstanding and I mean outstanding farmhouse. Full of charm, yet equipped with all modern conveniences. The courtyard is the place to spend your days and evenings. Cool shaded and soo relaxing. Many a siesta was taken on the daybed!! The pool was lovely for all our children and the adults saved the jaccuzzi to the evenings. The local villages had all you could need and Lisa booked us a taxi, for one night to a local restaurant as we celebrated a 40th while there. The meat from the local butcher was the best we have ever had. The gas BBQ was great as the men did most of the cooking. always good. I would highly recommend this house to all those who want to chill in outstanding surroundings with a high standard. We are definately going to return. Maybe Christmas as the lounge was just so homely.

Espacioso, con encanto, con preciosas vistas. Cocina, salón y espacios exteriores amplios para compartir cada momento del día con la familia. Nosotros somos deportistas e hicimos varias rutinas deportivas que fueron bastante intensas, favorecidas especialmente por la amplitud y el desnivel del terreno. The property is truly stunning. Amazing views all round from the pool and the hot tub. We used main house cottage and annnex and it easily accomodated our 13 people. The facilities really are first class, all the bed rooms are stunning full of character and well looked after. The best room is the master bedroom in the main house with a lovely ensuite and its own balcony (could do with a couch out there to sit on instead of the chairs and some lighting). The kitchen is big enough to prepare all the communal meals with plenty of fridge space. There are 2 amazing communal areas one in the shade to the side of the house and we ate there most nights (including BBQ) on the large table. The other is by the pool and hot tub. We had amazing weather and if I could I would still be swimming in that Pool every morning =) The pool is large and has easy access. The hot tub is next to the pool and it is worth having although it cost extra over and above the original cost which surprised us but on balance it was definitely worth the money! Julien was very helpful and friendly and popped in a couple of times to talk us through the facilites. Lisa was great via emails for prebooking questions too. One thing you need your own car to get to this property as it is deep in the mountains. All in all this is a stunning villa and you will not be disappointed. Best holiday ever! We will definitely go back 😁😁😁

This is a lovely house located in the mountains with a lovely scenic view. The house is spacious and very rustic and beautiful- really feels like Spain. The pool is truly nice! Lisa is very easy to get in contact with and very helpful:)

Our group of 14 adults stayed at Cortijo Cuscurro for a long weekend in May 2019 for a birthday celebration, and it is a stay to remember. Apart from the weather being perfect during our stay (it was not too hot but warm enough, and the nature surrounding the villa was beautiful), the villa fully met our expectations and needs. There was plenty of space for all of us to sleep comfortably, cook, eat and stay by the pool. The villa was clean and provided us everything we needed: from towels and kitchen supplies to a pool and a jacuzzi. The location is secluded and maybe a bit hard to reach, but it suited us and our needs very well. The centre of Riogordo with services was about a 15min drive away. The hosts were extremely helpful, flexible and friendly. They helped us organize transportation from and to Malaga airport, and also rides to the nearby supermarket in Riogordo village, since we didn't have our own car. We also organized a paella demonstration together with the host, and the paella was delicious! If we had some issues, questions or concerns regarding the villa, the hosts were very responsive and available. Our whole group would warmly recommend Cuscurro, since the overall experience was definitely 5/5. We are possibly even thinking about coming back next year :) Thank you Lisa and Julian!

Excellent house

A great house for a stay with friends and/or family. The house is well equiped with everything you need. Outside facilities are excellent with different spaces to meet everybody's needs.The location is also great with lots of good walks in the area. Internet connection does not always work effectively, but owners are always willing to help if you need something or have a problem.

Beautiful location and property. Poor management

This is a beautiful, interesting and spacious property in a stunning location. Three generations of my family recently spent a week here to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. Overall, we enjoyed the week but our stay was significantly impaired by the owners' poor management of the property. Firstly, the property is extremely difficult to find. The directions we were given by the owner was to use google maps from the airport. The problem is that google maps recognizes treacherous little unpaved tracks as roads. Two of my sisters were separately directed by google maps down extremely dangerous dirt roads with steep drops at the side. The owners owe it to their guests to provide clear and safe directions to the property. They also should have signs on the last mile or two of tiny roads leading to the house. Other rental property's in the area had signposts but there were absolutely none for this one. During our stay we encountered a number of electrical, plumbing and heating problems and none of them were resolved satisfactorily. The list of problems were: 1. The Jacuzzi didn't heat up. 2. Various family members were getting electrical shocks from simple appliances such as a toaster and a fan. Apparently, this was related to the malfunctioning jacuzzi. 3. The kitchen sink was clogged and mostly remained so despite our various efforts to unclog it. 4. There were not enough heaters. Some of the rooms didn't have any heater and our requests for additional heaters were unmet. Some handymen/electricians were sent out to look at these problems but none of them were fixed. It turns out the owner was on a cruise while we were there and while she had a local friend designated to address problems, the friend (who was very nice) was not very familiar with the property and didn't know how to fix anything or even who to call to fix things. My family was quite disappointed that we never got to use the jacuzzi and it was quite frustrating to have to deal with a clogged kitchen sink and cold bedrooms all week. We still had a really nice week despite the management issues but I really couldn't recommend anyone to stay here under the current ownership.

The Villa was to a good standard. The Owners were very professional and provided us with all the information we needed. The only thing I didn't like was the Villa was far from children's activities and roads were too narrow and found it difficult to drive. Because of the heat there were too many lizards coming into the villa which I was afraid of. However everything else was top notch

15 of us had a great stay at Cortijo Cuscurro. Check in and check out was all very easy and Lisa was on hand if we had any questions. I would definitely recommend the paella, it was well worth it!

A little slice of heaven

We had high expectations of thr property and surrounding area from seeing the photos, we were blown away in reality! Lisa and Julian have put love and care into the farmhouse and outer buildings. We were left wanting for nothing as the kitchen and house were extremely well equipped. The furnishings and decor are stylish and of great quality with a touch iof shabby chic..all adding to the ambience of this stunning holiday home. An unexpected bonus was the sound system, after changing to more modern convenient speakers and tablets etc we had forgotten how sublime music sounds on a good system! There was even a cable to connect it to our phones. We will be reverting back to a real sound system!! The music coupled with the amazing views made each day feel like living in a movie or dream! The local town of Rigordio was pleasant and traditional and the supermarket though small well stocked. We highly recommend the local wine sold in cartons especially the rose! We were only there for a long weekend due to work commitments so we were gutted to leave.We definitely plan to return for a longer holiday and can't wait to drive around more of the surrounding villages. Lisa and Julian are a lovely couple who have created a wonderful home and holiday experience for anyone who wishing to get away from it all and experience the real Spain. If you prefer to while the hours in the jakuzi or by the pool, chase the sun on many terraces, lounge on the outside sofas with a book, eat alfresco complete with stunning views or nip out for beer and tapas even drive into Malaga should you wish thus is the one for you!! Certainly for us!

Fantastic house

Myself & family had a great holiday here in Corjico Cuscurro. The house has plenty of room & a fantastic pool with amazing views. Everything is thought of to make your holiday hassle free. The house was very clean & tidy for our arrival. The owners were very helpful. The property is very well maintained. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday home & will most definately be returning myself 😀

Beautiful villa, perfect for a big group of friends and family

We came here as a group of eleven family and friends. The huge villa had plenty of space for a large group to relax and spend time. Beautiful character, decor and views - the location is quite remote but this adds to the character! In particular the pool area and patio area were great places for the group to spend time. Lisa was really helpful in advance of our visit in recommending activities and transport as well as arranging a food and drink shop.

Idyllic secluded spot in beautiful setting

We loved our stay at Cortijo Cuscurro - the farmhouse and cottage were lovely, authentic, well kept and really well equipped. We went out for a couple of day trips to Nerja and Malaga but mostly chilled out around the pool and in the house (it was very hot during the time we were there). There's plenty of space so everyone could do there own thing - we were a mixture of teenagers and adults and we all really enjoyed the space. The local countryside was stunning and we spent a couple of lovely evenings in the local village and found the locals really friendly. The house is a bit of a distance from shops and entertainment but we enjoyed the seclusion - worth stocking up on food en route though. The kitchen and barbecue area were great for cooking with everything that you could need - we particularly liked the coffee machine! The owners were really friendly, helpful and responsive when we contacted them. Everything ran very smoothly and we had a fabulous week. Would highly recommend.
