Good

The room is big and comfortable, staff friendly. Convenient location close to the railway station and pretty easy to get to attractions, some good restaurants nearby. Seems our room is not vacuumed evertyday as we can see small paper fragments on the floor after cleaning. Also sometimes you hear noises in the hallway. At checkout they asked 5 euros for tips per day, though it does not seem to be mandatory.

The hotel is walking distance from the train station. The room was comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. City taxes way cheaper than Rome. Breakfast was great! Our checkout was in the morning and were able to leave our bags in storage while going around the city. Great stay!

Good location, walk to the train, metro or stations all less than 5 minute. Around hotel there are many good restaurant . There are many other food options in the train stations too.Specifically thank for the reception guy, he is very nice and friendly.

Rome April 2025

A three day stay after an 11 day cruise. A great spot to wind down, central to the main railway station, metro and bus services. So, in essence just a short ride away from all the major tourist attractions. It is a modern establishment, great amenities, great food, and very helpful and friendly staff.

Overall the stay was ok. The hotel was pretty clean. Rooftop bar was closed for renovations. Breakfast Buffet that they push is overrated. Shuttle service is over priced , you are better off getting a taxi. Staff not very friendly and informative. For example, did not tell us about placing the card in a slot near the door for the electricity to work. Air conditioning did not work either. Room was so stuffy.

The Hotel Universo was clean, staff were very helpful, and location was great. The hotel was close to main transportation hub, Termini Station. Also there were several good places to eat within the blocks surrounding the hotel. I would recommend this hotel.

Modern hotel

This was a nice & modern hotel for Rome. Room was nice but had a design flaw so effectively we had a glass window without any shutters or curtains and light flooded in all day and night. We had to escalate to hotels.com and the hotel changed our room the next day. The a/c of the first room also made a noise like a motorbike so in all we had a terrible night's sleep. The second room had a quieter a/c and no problems with windows but the shower door didn't close properly, leaking water all over the bathroom floor. It was fine for us, though. The hotel is a five-minutes walk from Termini station. The area is gritty with lots of touristy, expensive, terrible food options but we found one decent restaurant nearby. The hotel restaurant is also nice for dinner (avoid the pumpkin fusilli though). Staff was generally nice. We were surprised to be asked for a 3% tip when leaving. We didn't pay but it was awkward to be asked.
