Where to start…the apartment was not dirty per se but because it was so shabby it seemed dirty. One sofa had a stained slip cover. The other had lumpy mismatched cushions under a bedspread like cover. There were few amenities in the tiny kitchen - no coffee maker, napkins, paper towels, placemats or tablecloth. The freezer didn’t work. We complained about the coffeemaker which appeared the next day but the freezer was never repaired. The a/c heating unit was so noisy as to be unuseable for long periods. It was “repaired” once but broke 24 hours later. Do note there is a washer but NO dryer. We noticed neighbors using drying racks in the filthy street … there is no reliable trash pickup service so folks just leave wrapped trash in the street at the corners. Stays there for days. Then there is the smell- some combination of leeching tobacco smoke, and something else. Our clothes and suitcases reeked and had to be cleaned when we returned home. The patio was shabby and unattractive, strewn with leftover gardening stuff. The bathroom was adequate but for the shower. The door was half off the rail. The size was good for a child. At 5’2” and 125 lbs I could barely bend to reach the shampoo on the floor (no place else to put it!)
