Although we were only there for one night, I fell in love immediately. Beautiful hotel with beautiful views. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Hotel was very quiet and cosy. The beds were really comfortable and we had an amazing stay! Would definitely be back!
It’s an impressive property but it’s need of updating and repairs. It seems that some updating has been done but it’s still a work in progress. I have mixed feelings about the staff at reception. I dealt with a gentleman at check in and he was very friendly, helpful and clearly understands good customer service. I can’t say the same about his female colleague. She clearly does not like her job and does not understand good customer service. I went to enquire about extending my stay by another night and she cut me off without letting me finish my sentence. I found her to be quite ignorant. It was almost like she was on a power trip. I declined the opportunity to stay an extra night and booked a room in another hotel.

Alright
Paid extra for a room with a sea view only for the view to be blocked by scaffolding which is ridiculous. Room could have been cleaner, particularly the floor could be doing with a hoover and a scrub.
Lovely hotel and very kind helpful staff. Loved the room, very comfy bed. The bathroom was a little tired but very clean. Very happy stay - hope to be back if in this area 😊

The hotel is in need of repair and updating. The whole place is very tired. Also disappointed there was no entertainment in the ball room. I’m have stayed before and was now very disappointed in everything.

Fantastic location, sea view rooms were amazing and really made the stay worth it, we had a large clean room all staff were friendly and considering the price can’t fault anything. We were room only and didn’t try the food at the hotel - this was due to the feedback from locals in the island stating the food was really hit and miss. The smell of the food seemed to linger throughout the lobby/ reception and restaurant and didn’t smell great - think canteen/ hospital food. Would recommend to anyone staying in Bute
We stayed here last November and returned in May but probably wont come back again. No atmosphere, bar closed at 11 on a Friday Poor breakfast selection. No continental choice ( 1 type of meat / cheese).
Rothesay was a revelation. We were put off by the ferry access on our upward journey but shouldn't have been. The hotel has wonderful views and is situated within easy walking distance along a promenade of interesting victorian hotels/apartments to a vibrant town centre. we were very lucky with the weather and loved everything about the hotel and the town.

Old style charm. Great view of Loch and sunset from front deck.
Beautiful building (must be a nightmare to maintain) but a bit shabby in some areas. Unsurprising but need to be honest in the review. Staff were brilliant and had a great stay, would recommend.
