My wife and I recently stayed at Regal Palms Resort in Rotorua. While the resort shows its age, we found our room to be spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable—a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. One of the highlights was the small private courtyard complete with a table and chairs, offering a delightful spot to enjoy a quiet morning or evening. It was a pity that the on-site restaurant wasn’t operational during our visit, but this wasn’t a major issue since most guests, including ourselves, prefer dining in town where there are plenty of great options. The pool, though modest in size and located in the middle of the car park, was clean and perfectly usable for a refreshing dip. We didn’t have a chance to use the tennis court, but it appeared to be well-maintained. Overall, Regal Palms is a solid choice for anyone looking for a comfortable room or suite just outside the town centre, offering a relaxed environment and good value for money.

Really lovely place, fabulous amenities, ideal for families. Staff super friendly and helpful. Room superb, lovely comfortable bed very clean and spacious with great bathroom with toileteries and nice towels provided. Laundry was handy with iron provided in the room. Was very quoet, had an excellent nights sleep.

Our room had a leak somewhere so the rain soaked about 1/3 of the carpet. There were a few minor cleanliness issues, but the front desk was great and breakfast was really nice. Property felt a little dated, room was small.

Very nice and fairly priced hotel close to restaurants, shops and various activities to do in the area. Keep in mind there might be a sulfur smell in the air that is due to thermal activity in Rotorua. Other than that it’s a very nice experience.

Average, a bit noisy and unusable Wifi

Our room was close to the 'entertainment' area, where the pool, mini golf, etc. are located. So it was quite noisy outside of our room, some days until past 9pm. We were normally at our room past 5-6pm. We were quite tired from hikes and this was not ideal for us as we needed quiet to rest and sleep. Air conditioning was pretty decent. We weren't able to turn on the washroom lights without triggering the fan which in turn was bringing in the sulphur smell from the outside (common in Rotorua). We ended up not using the lights in the washrooms to prevent that. The WIFI was pretty much unusable! We told them; nothing they could do about it at the time. So be warned it's very bad. The room cleanness of the room was average I'd say. Things in the room look pretty old/used. Overall, very average motel. Nothing special or fancy. We didn't think this place was worth the money we paid for.

Had a pleasant stay here. Great extra amenities, especially if you are travelling with children. Novel having a bath (unfortunately spa function didn’t work) in the bedroom. Heated floor in bathroom was a bonus. Wouldn’t recommend if you prefer a dark sleeping environment.
