If you end up at the Marquis resort during rainy conditions, expect the worst vacation of your life. This resort almost completely shuts down and does not communicate with guests. Heres a list of things we experienced during our stay (keep in mind it rained on and off). 1. The resort closed the pools and deemed them to be “unsafe”. Even when the sun was shining they had security standing by the pools telling us we weren’t allowed in the pools. 2. They took all the towels away from the pools and didn’t provide guests with towels. 3. They closed the bar that’s on the same level as the pools. If you want a drink you have to climb multiple flights of stairs, stand in a long line and wait for your drink. Waiters hardly came around to pool area. At one point the only bar that was open told us the only option they had for drinks was “prison water” (beer). I have never heard of an all inclusive resorts denying guests drink options and only serving beer. 4. They closed the majority of the dining options. They closed many options for dinner and we were denied entrance to the only 2 options open for dinner because “we didn’t have a reservation”. AT AN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT. Were told to go to the conference room and eat in there. After finally being allowed to eat in one of the restaurants, it was 50% empty. 5. Entertainment during the day and evening was cancelled. They had a screen in the conference room for entertainment Could go on but limited in characters. Worst resort ever
Where we were sent to eat after being denied at the only 2 restaurants open. This is also the “entertainment” provided for guests. The screen to sit and stare at.

The staff is fantastic and the vibe is fun. The location is great, with a number of infinity pools right on the beach. The rooms themselves are also surprisingly nice. Even their base rooms are massive and have great ocean views. All food and drink is great, with the glaring exception of dinners. Lunches are excellent with fun selection. Dinners are.. pretty mediocre. They try to be unique/inventive but so much falls flat. We did not try the paid restaurant. Finally, the resort overall feels just a little dated. It could use some TLC to make it feel premium again. We'd definitely recommend the resort, but would keep expectations for dinners low.

My experience got alittle choppy my last 2 days there. It rained so housekeeping became scarce and our bathroom flooded with water, however, when I called them they eventually fixed the situations. Some of our reservations were mixed up but the staff was amazing in fixing the issues. I will be a repeat visitor the property again.

The views were stunning and exactly as advertised, and the room was spacious and true to the photos. However, a storm during our stay exposed some issues with the property’s infrastructure—there was poor drainage, multiple leaks throughout the building, and about 2 inches of standing water on the balcony, making it unusable for most of our stay. We were only able to enjoy the balcony for one day. The storm also made it difficult to navigate the property, as the main elevators were out of service. Guests had to rely on the service elevator or stairs to get around, which was inconvenient. The food on the property was average overall, though Sakke and Pergola stood out as the best dining options. The pizza from Pergola was especially delicious! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to enjoy it beyond the second day due to the weather.

I found the communication and management of the venue below substandard this was our honeymoon we travelled from Australia. The venue was in a non functional capacity. We left the property for another and are still fighting for a refund..

We happen to come when Hurricane Lorena was passing by. The hotel was impacted and suffered a few leaks and delay in some services as expected. However, the service was excellent and they went out of their way to ensure we were taken care of. Good restaurant choices were great-fresh and delicious and drinks were on par. Highly recommend.

My casita with the ocean view was flooded from the rain in the bathroom with rain draining from the ceiling of the bathroom, living room and bedroom. Our clothes in the closet got wet from the rain. We had to cover ourselves with a towel to use the bathroom. Maintenance mopped up the rain the next morning and gave us 6 buckets for the leaking roof. My family and I made reservations for dinner and had to wait 45 minutes only to be seated in chairs that were wet. The roof was also leaking in the only restaurant that was open for breakfast for all guests and we weren't allowed to make reservations and in room service dining was not allowed. The elevators also were not working and we had to walk up 70-80 stairs. The beverages that were included in your room were beer, water and sodas. Therefore you had to pay extra for either a bottle of tequila or even the tiny shot bottles. The pull out sleeper sofa was dusty, grimy and had no linen. Our plunge pool had a stain ring of dirt around it. Would not recommend this hotel by any means.
