Not sure what the hype is all about for this place. Sure the area is good. Pretty convenient and close to the beach. But it ends there. The rooms are not as functional as they can be. For example, no shelf in the shower, no toilet paper holder, and no drawers to place belongings. The pool was also not functioning for use when we were there which was very disappointing. Truthfully, I don’t even know if I would want to hang out at the pool with all the noise outside and a huge massive crane dangling over my head. There is constant construction next-door, which may be disruptive to those who are light sleepers. Walls are pretty thin that I was able to hear quite clearly the action happening next-door. For the price of this accommodation, I found it to be very mediocre.

My boyfriend and I took a trip at the end of January to get away from the cold. We stayed at HiBird and loved it! We arrived a few hours before check in and they let us drop our bags while we got a drink down the street at a bar right on the beach. The location is great, one block from the beach where they provide lounge chairs and umbrellas. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance as well. Hector at the front desk was so helpful, whatever we asked about he had a recommendation that was always what we were looking for! Our room was very nice, had a full fridge, a cooktop, and a microwave. The rooftop pool isn’t huge but nice for lounging and cooling off (and if you go up for a late night soak in the hot tub there was a little cat that comes by that is very friendly-I wanted to bring it home!) Every other floor has either laundry or an ice machine. The parking lot is a little tight but there was always a spot for our rental. We plan on making HiBird our choice hotel when we visit San Juan!

Staff were very nice and accommodating, although there is no one consistently at the ‘front desk’. Rooms have limited (4) hangers and no shelving for clothes. Facilities are very clean. Pool was closed our entire stay. There is a lobby bathroom, but no access to a shower for those wanting to visit the beach past the 10am checkout. There is construction next door. Excellent location for getting everywhere.

I really Loved the place clean and inviting, just wish they told me about the construction being done.@ the building next door with crane hanging over pool. Lol The building next door! Very loud could not relax. They should lower the prices because of construction. Other than that I have no complaints I would stay there again. Loved the food at Pure ! Yummy mmm and healthy.

This hotel has a unique charm—it’s a beautifully updated older building that was brought to life with modern touches. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the action, with plenty of restaurants, the beach, and attractions within walking distance. The staff was friendly and courteous, making check-in smooth and welcoming. The room was nice, though it could have been cleaned more thoroughly. The details on the corners behind furniture would've used a little More attention. The bed was also nice, although it was too soft for my taste. One thing to note: our room shared a door with the neighboring room, and unfortunately, it wasn’t very soundproof. We were woken up at 3 AM by a loud TV, but thankfully, the front desk was quick to handle the situation when we called (just a heads-up—there are no in-room phones, so you’ll need to use your own). Another challenge was the parking—while it’s great that they offer it, the spots are quite tight, and maneuvering in and out can be tricky. Also, if your room faces the construction site next door (on the left side of the hotel if you’re on the street facing it), be prepared for an early wake-up call at 7 AM. Despite these minor inconveniences, the hotel’s location and overall ambiance make it a solid choice for anyone looking to stay in the heart of the city. If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs—otherwise, enjoy the convenience and charm of this spot!

The location was great as we could walk to many restaurants and the beach. The property and rooms were clean, it was quiet to sleep, and the onsite grab and go and coffee bar were very convenient. Other amenities - pool and gym - were enjoyed. The staff was very helpful during the day and early evening. The only problem we experienced was with a toilet that broke at night - it could not be serviced until the next day. However, it was looked at quickly as soon as maintenance staff arrived and, when it could not be fixed, they upgraded us to another room. We would recommend this place to others.

HiBird is superbly located at the center of the action in San Juan. The facility is and has all the amenities needed including a cafe and store on site. Parking is on site but the spaces are tight, for anything other than a compact car. The rooms were clean and modern. I have zero complaints, very pleasant stay.

There were lots of bugs on the ground floor of the room is connected to a patio. You also have to walk through an open garage to get to the second building of the hotel. It’s also loud, you can hear everything in the hallways.

The staff was excellent. Free, easy parking with a lot of spaces available. Great location with many dining options (the pizza place across the street is outstanding, as well as the hotel restaurant.). Close to the beach. The grab-and-go was a great amenity to have. The pool wasn't busy during our stay, and we even had the pool to ourselves one whole day. The gym was great for a hotel gym, with a water station to refill your water bottles during your stay.

The property for a budgeted stay was great. The staff and attention to service was impeccable. They were friendly, kind, and expedient in anything you needed. And they were only a txt away which was the best part. However the only cons to this was maybe the room and cleanliness. The room was clean but when cleaning service was requested they seemed to only make the bed and sweep a little and leave two towels. The room is fairly small. I recommend not getting a first floor room. While having a hot tub was great, we were visited many times by long centipedes, esp if the AC was turned off. The hot tub also was rough to the skin as the lining of the hit tub was a little rough (but thats just personal preference). Overall, I would return, prob take a higher floor and see if they had a slightly larger room. Perfect for a week stay for those who dont stay in the room much.

Hibird Adventure

So let me start by saying they have a self-check in system that I was not a fan of. I come to San Juan often and this was one of my longer stays. I had a room with a Jacuzzi and Mini back yard which for me was great, but the room had no draws or closet to put your clothes I had to ask staff for towels every day and new linen after three days. The staff is friendly they are just understaffed and over worked. They day I checked in there was one person working and it appeared he was cleaning rooms answering phones and handling questions all at the same time to his credit he did keep his cool even though he was clearly overwhelmed. I have never gone on vacation and not be able to check in no matter what the time. The Hibird check in is at 4 and its a madhouse at that time. I had to wait because the self-check in system said my room was not ready. Customer service is everything to me and some things need a human touch. I did not get this at the Hibird. I will never stay there again. They get a barely passing grade 3 out of 5 for me the bed was comfortable tv selection was poor. Having my own personal Jacuzzi is what saved them from my review being totally negative

I really liked this property. All of the staff were super nice and friendly. Room was great, bed was super comfortable and bathroom was nice, modern and clean. My only dislike was the 10am checkout. That was much earlier than other hotels I’ve stayed in.

The staff does a great job of making you feel welcome and wanting to make sure your needs are met. At present, they seem to be a bit understaffed, especially when check-in time rolls around. I suggest waiting until 5:00 to avoid any lines. There's also no typical front desk so there isn't always someone around if you need something. The rooms are nice though some of the people in my group thought the beds were too soft.
