Although this hotel is closest to the Promenade and therefore has a terrific view, our stay was pretty disappointing from the start. The condition of this hotel is pretty sad. Badly in need of repairs, updates, and A/C! Parking and unloading was a cluster with the scaffolding that is in place. The hotel should have noted on the website that it was under construction, in part, acknowledging the dated/poor condition of rooms, but also, the congestion at the main entrance. Paid extra for a fireplace room that only filled the room with the smell of gas and had a wide gap exposing the intercomponents of the wiring. No flame. The cement wall on our exterior patio had black mold showing clearly through the paint. A large leak had apparently happened above one of the beds in the room and had been spackled but not painted. We reported a un-uniformed man came to our door, tapped lightly and stood there even though we said through the door we didn't need anything. When we called the front desk to ask if we should expect someone at our door, no answer. I called the direct phone number and reported the incident with the hotel manager, but never heard any follow up from him to ensure our confidence in the safety of this hotel. The halls to the beach facing rooms CANNOT be built to code and are nearly impossible to navigate a luggage cart into/out of your room over those huge door stops. Thought the $$$ on this room indicated it was the nicest room in Seaside, boy was I wrong.
