Welcome to the lake! Whether you're here for a relaxing retreat, a wedding at Bay Pointe, or a family getaway, we know you'll find what you are looking for. Our cottage has been professionally renovated with all new furnishings. The kitchen is spacious & well-equipped. The sandy, shallow swim area & dock are ideal for hanging out, launching kayaks & docking your boat. Perfect lake for water sports, fishing & watching wildlife. End your evenings with a bonfire under the stars or hanging out on the dock.

The space
Fully renovated in 2023, our cottage feels fresh and new. High-end details in the kitchen and bathrooms make the space feel luxurious while the professionally designed interiors bring the cozy comforts of home.

With 55' of private lake frontage and a sandy shallow swim area it's the perfect spot to hang out or watch the kids splash around. Pro Tip: Bring the plastic Adirondacks from the garage into the water for an ideal place to cool off and spend the day.
*note - the dock and swim area is directly across the street from the house.

Proximity to Bay Pointe Inn – only ¼ mile down the road and easily walkable. Whether attending an event or just grabbing dinner, Bay Pointe is a great place to enjoy beautiful views of the lake from its upper deck.

The 3-season porch is our favorite spot to hang out. It's a great spot to read a book or gather your crew. Open all the windows and enjoy the lake breeze or the early morning crisp air. Even on rainy days, it’s the perfect place for coffee or wine.

At the end of a long day of fun in the sun, gather around the Solo Stove for bonfires and smores.

We often hear that winter is the best time to be on the lake. The lake freezes over so it's a great spot for ice fishing or hockey and is incredibly peaceful in the winter. Snowshoe trails are nearby. The house has radiant heat, mini-split heat pumps, and an electric fireplace to cozy up near after a day of winter fun.

The driveway provides parking for up to 6 cars.

Convenient access from Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and most of southwest Michigan and the central Great Lakes region. Only 10 minutes east of US-131.

Guest access:
You will have access to the entire house. We keep our boat at the dock and store a few tools and supplies in the garage, so we ask that you respect these areas. We will make any areas of the garage that are off-limits clear, but other than that, the house is yours to enjoy!

Other things to note:
We encourage you to open the windows and let the lake breezes flow. We added mini-split AC/Heat Pumps in all upstairs sleeping areas and the main floor in the Spring of 2024. The cottage has radiant boiler heat throughout and is great for all seasons.

We also added a fence in the front yard in the Spring of 2024. The fence is not fully gated, but does create a wonderful hang-out space and play area for kids while being supervised.
During your stay at this cottage, you're just a quick walk from Gun Lake. You'll find features such as laundry facilities. The cottage includes amenities such as free WiFi and a kitchen.

Beautiful property and very clean. Close to places to eat and great views of the lake. Would stay again. The host messaging was timely and customer focused. Although listed as 4 bedrooms is really 3 bedrooms with bunks in a loft area. We made it work for the short stay however longer stay would have required some understanding on privacy for the loft people.

Family reunion vacation

My siblings and I wanted to do a get-together for my mom’s 70th birthday! My sister flew in from Colorado and my brother and niece flew all the way from Vietnam to stay here for a few days. We had the best time- we never even left the house. The house was beautiful with plenty of space for all of us, adults and kids included. It looks just like the pictures. We loved the firepit area and bringing the Adirondack chairs to the shallow water. The kayaks and big floating pad were AWESOME to enjoy too! Highly recommend!!

Great Location, Great Fun, Awesome Place!

Our family had a fantastic time at this place. Super clean & new feeling. Excellent location about 5 min walk to the Inn. House was stocked with plenty of towels. The hosts were super communicative & they were happy to share all the water toys, life vests and kayaks which ended up being so much fun for our family during downtime over two day wedding. If you are ever staying in Gun Lake, we highly recommend !

Wedding weekend

We had family flying in from Florida and Nashville for a 3 day stay for a wedding. We had 5 adults and 2 one and half year olds. It was very accommodating. The host was so friendly and we were able to get in early and check out later. We also brought our boat and was able to dock it at the property so we could easily get back and forth to bay pointe. We highly recommend this rental!

Will definitely be back!

My two childhood girlfriends and I stayed here three nights for a high school reunion this past weekend. We wanted some downtime and fun from our busy lives, and this home was bright and beautiful and had all the amenities you will need. Beds were great, kitchen was well equipped, and A/C worked well on the hot afternoons. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrises, kayaks, swimming, firepit, and nearby restaurants. The owners were also very responsive to any of our requests/questions. We are looking forward to coming back one day again and would highly recommend this home if you want to visit the Gun Lake area and have a special get away.

Gun Lake Cottage

Wonderful home....enjoyed swimming in the sandy beach area, kayaking close to shore, walks to get ice cream and cookies. Had a wonderful dinner at the Bay Pointe restaurant overlooking the lake. Weather was great, rented a pontoon close by and used the lily pad off a little island on the lake. Had a fire at night and found so many stars in the sky.

Amazing stay at Gun Lake

If you have ever seen the show "Vacation House Rules" where they think of everything the guest may need, this is it. The house was clean and had more supplies such as cleaning, cookware, utensils, etc than any VRBO have been to. The firepit and provided firewood was super convenient. The location on the lake is sandy and shallow enough for our little kids (4 & under) to play, but deep enough we kept our 25ft boat at the dock all week. Our kids loved the bunk beds and our growing family will definitely be able to come back.

Great place for our annual family reunion

This place was a great space to host our annual family reunion. The house comfortably slept 9. The beds were the best that we’ve ever slept in at a rental. The lake is a sandy bottom, which we all enjoyed. The kids loved the lily pad and the parents very much enjoyed sitting in the blue chairs in the water. It was a perfect week. Graduation Celebration

House and host were perfect! Beautiful lake side getaway as HS celebration for our family. Our graduate invited a handful of best friends to join us for 4 days relaxation and laughter. Home was clean, spacious and well equipped. Plenty of room for family style dinners and evenings around the fire. Parents 50th anniversary

We rented this property to surprise my parents and celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. It was a beautiful spacious house. Only downside was we thought that it was directly on the water but it’s across the street. Which still was fine and such a beautiful breeze with great views however my husband was not able to get on the dock due to the rocks and steps. My husband is in a wheelchair. That was a surprise but still was fine.
