The house manager is the owner of the property who lives in the neighborhood during part of the year. So not only does he have local knowledge, he can help with any issues you may encounter during your stay. The president of the neighborhood Homeowners Association, Albe, is the Spanish and English speaking local contact for any needs that arise during your stay. Gardener, Carlos, will briefly be on site most weekdays to attend to the pool and garden, and our house keeper, Yakayra is scheduled for a couple hours every M, W, F to clean and change sheets and towels.
The neighborhood of Bahia Arena is one of two developments for single family houses on Cabarete Bay (the other is Olas de Oro). It’s a quiet, gated neighborhood mostly occupied by home owners. Bahia has the best private beach area on the bay, an elevated shaded grassy area overlooking the beach. It’s the perfect spot to lounge in the hammock hung in the trees, or rig kites before a session. The community has a kite shop in front of the gated entrance, as well as a wonderful coffee shop that serves out-of-this-world breakfast burritos. Bahia is located directly mid-bay, so it’s not in the wind shadow of the east bay, but away from the craziness of all the beginners at kite beach to the west. Its a 12-15 min walk along the beach to all the bars, restaurants and night life of Cabarete. That makes it far enough from the pumping music of the beachside parties for a peaceful nights rest, but close enough to get there when you’re ready to experience it.
The home has a dedicated parking spot directly in front of the property. That said, the proximity of the house to downtown Cabarete (12-15 mins walking, 1mile/ 2km) and all it’s beachfront dining, nightlife and amenities really make this a walking friendly location. Motoconchos (almost any Domincan on a motorbike) can be waved down on the street for 100 pesos ($2 USD), and there are several excellent taxi services that we would be happy to help arrange.
The house is equipped with a pack and play crib for children, a well stocked kitchen with a wide selection of cookware and utensils, chefs knives, a blender, a microwave, a toaster oven, and a drip coffee maker. Additionally home has high speed internet, excellent hot water and water pressure (not always a given in DR), and a smart TV for all your streaming needs.
Only one car allowed in the designated parking spot in front of the home. Street parking in Bahia Arena neighborhood is strictly prohibited. Additional parking available by the guard house in front of the development. Inquire with the gate attendant when you arrive if needed.
