St. Ives Bay Hotel was in the perfect location over looking a beautiful beach and within a 3 minute walk from the town. It is also only 3/4 minutes from the train station.
Unfortunately this hotel is in dire need of a refurbishment. All the carpets are stained, there was dust everywhere, and the curtains need to be replaced. The shower was no more than a trickle. The road is noisy but we expected that and took earplugs.
However the staff were friendly and helpful, the bed sheets were clean and the breakfast was good. We didn’t have the evening meal but other guests said it was also good. The WiFi was free and worked everywhere in the hotel. We where told be a staff member there is going to be a complete refurbishment next year to bring it up to a 5star standard.
Me and Mum had a weekend break at St Ives Bay was a wonderful stay staff were kind and helpful and breakfast was yummy. A great location close to the beach and town loads of shops and restaurants will definitely be coming back to this place 😁⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Properrty wants great the bathroom smells of urine. The only plugs available was the ones for TV and kettle so had to swap to charge phones. Beds were uncomfortable. The only good thing was it was near the beach
The room was dirty and the toilet was not flushing. The exhaust in the toilet wasn’t working so it was smelly the whole stay. Only good thing about the stay was the beach who was just 10 mins walk. Otherwise, wouldn’t recommend the stay at all.
The hotel is quite traditional with a certain smell that characterises its age. Our room is old fashioned with basic amenities.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
I have stayed here before, so why go back?
The location is excellent. I was aware that the hotel had been closed but, it obviously wasn’t for a refurb. The areas I had access to were in need of some TLC.
On arrival there was no friendly greeting from the hotel receptionist but, I suppose we all have those days occasionally.
The carpet in the room was threadbare in places and needed replacing.
When booking, I rang to request a room with easy access for my 91 year old mother (less stairs) She was allocated the second floor?
This was changed at my request but it was a shame my earlier telephone call was disregarded.
Would I go back again, sadly not. The hotel has the potential to be excellent but, it needs the investment.

In desperate need of updating or at least touching up. Expected much better for the price.
Big room, comfy beds, decent bathroom a fan. Free WiFi. Short walk to carpark but steep hill or lots of steps. Ten minute walk into town. Didn't try any food or have our room serviced. Reception staff were pleasant on check in and check out.
The hotel is very very dated. The bathroom was particularly small, we are slender builds and anyone bigger would be very uncomfortable. The beds/mattresses were uncomfortable. The room was so hot and window didn’t open more than 3inches.
For £100 per night, expected for comfort all round.
