Inconsistent messaging about damage deposit expectations. First visit was $600, second $300 and no explanations why. First visit room was carpeted musty, mold in bathroom, old beat up furniture and the room left our luggage and clothing smelling, second marginally better half renovated but still old furniture worn down. Tiny windows in rooms. No breakfast. Nice restaurant next door though! Shady people walking by that may accost you as they did us and verbally be aggressive, physically approach and look through cars, bum smokes. Rat traps outside. For the price go up the road to a well known quality establishment.

This was our second stay and we asked for a nicer room than our first carpeted dingy musty stinky rundown one. Would not have stayed here if we could have backed out without penalty! This time we were not asked for a $600 deposit for damages, only $300 this time. Rat trap outside the door. Got a room first floor with vinyl flooring but same outdated and damaged furniture and moldy bath tub/shower however the sink was updated. Wallpaper and ceiling updated and brighter. All rooms have tiny windows and no light. No breakfast included. Homeless guy walking down the street looked at me and screamed profanities directed at me And threw a suitcase towards me and started running in my direction so I ran into the pub! I was told it just ‘happens sometimes’ For the price stay elsewhere!

Nice enough, needs an update
Nice looking hotel exterior. Funky odour in halls and room smelled of smoke.
nothing unique no mats on the floor, running a bath and shower leaking worse i have seen in Years....for the price i do not understand charging people and gouging someone elses pocket book....We will not be ever booking there again..Stay away
The staff was pleasant and accommodating , the pub menu was well rounded; the food delicious. The VLTs on property were a plus. The room was nice the bathroom very clean with the exception of one spider surprising me in the shower. The smoke shack was big and comfy. One bus to downtown, 10 mins on foot to the mall. All in all a great stay.
We stayed 4 nights Aug 8,9,10,11. Given a horrible ground floor room in back area (Room 104) One window looking onto parking lot that you couldn't open curtain on because there was no privacy sheers and people were walking back and forth outside of it and parking large pick-up trucks in front of our space. It was like being in a cave. No daily housekeeping service and when we asked about this, front desk agent was surly with my husband, saying "We don't do that." There was only 2 electrical outlets in the main area of the room and we had to rotate what we plugged in. There was only one bedside table on one side of the bed and nothing on the other side. Baseboards were dirty with dust. Bathroom vanity was coming loose from the wall and tilting forward so toiletries would roll off if not placed strategically.
Enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Building needs a little updating but to do that would cost a fortune. In the meantime the building serves its guests the best it can. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable beds, all you need in the bathroom, hairdryer included. Iron and ironing board in room. Room size brilliant. Would stay here again.
Staff are very welcoming and kind during our stay. Easy to get to downtown St John's by driving. Went to the pub for breakfast and food was really good!
Nice room, comfortable bed, room very clean, good location.

Older hotel in need of updating and musty smelling. The beds were comfortable, though small. Breakfast in the restaurant (not included) was good.
We had an issue with our booking where the hotel was not seeing our Expedia booking in their system and had to rebook us. We didn’t find out until the morning (after we’d packed up) that we could stay in the same room. As a result housekeeping saw it as a new booking and our room did not get cleaned. Staff was able to provide clean towels when we realized this.
This hotel has a beautiful ambiance to it. And the food in the pub was excellent. So many great choices. I could eat there three times a day for a whole week!
