Unfortunately I thought that the Expedia description a "Club Room (Accessible room) was a normal hotel room just possibly in a different part of the hotel. It actually means wheel chair accessible and a wet room to go with it.
So not one of our better stays, staff very good but hotel was full or we could have transferred to another room, however my fault, a lesson for the future.
The hotel is in a good location next to a marina, the river and has a bistro and a bar on its premises. It is a short distance away from the town centre but a nice walk into Stratford and all it has to offer. Rooms are comfortable and clean, although we did have to request that the bathroom bin was emptied from the previous occupancy. This was dealt with immediately. The hotel is dog friendly and dogs are allowed into morning breakfast but not for other meal service in the bistro. However, dogs are allowed in the bar where food is also served at lunch and dinner. A nice dog gift was provided containing some treats, a toy and bags for dog waste. However, do remember to bring your own bowls and a dog bed. Breakfast at weekends can be very busy for tables. This is not a buffet-style breakfast so it takes some time for orders to be prepared during busy periods and we did have to wait 15 - 20 minutes for a table, over 20 minutes to order and around a similar amount of time to receive the breakfast. It is standard to pay for your dog to stay over but it would have been nice to have been offered a breakfast sausage for our dog. Staff on reception and on the bar in The Bear were all very pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and the walking we did.
We have visited this hotel before and wanted to come back. We paid for a superior room as we wanted a nice suite. Receptionist checked us in and gave us room key. Got to room and was not the room we paid for.
When we went to reception to say this they was not surprised. As if they knew. Just said there was no other room and offered a free bottle of wine and they will TRY and reduce the price of the room.
We asked for a refund, which we got told would be a lengthy process as its through expedia. We found another hotel and had a lovely stay in a upgraded room with breakfast in bed.
Will be waiting for my refund. We are sad as had a lovely stay the first time round.
Brief 1night stay, very pleasant and helpful staff - room was comfortable & warm.
Good quality bathroom and newish decor.
Comfortable bed & couch in adjoining lounge area.
Breakfast was better than expected, good choices and made to order. (We had purchased breakfast included).
Restaurant was good quality, decent prices too. (And was offered a discount because of stay)
Would stay again!
Perfect for a nice stay in Stratford. Staff lovely, breakfast excellent value, the Bear bar and barman were lovely as well. Couldn’t fault it for the money we paid. Perfect location with added bonus of parking at reasonable price.
A great place to stay. Walking distance to theatre etc and lovely position by the river. Friendly staff and pleasant room although temperature too hot in room. Would definitely stay again.
This hotel is first class for its location to the RSC theatre, which was what we needed on this visit. Having said that, it would be suitable for visiting the birthplace, high street etc too, if mobility is not an issue because it is right next to the river, just the other side from the theatre, with the Bridgefoot pedestrian bridge just outside and pretty much level access. We visited at a very quiet time of the year and so service in bar and food service at breakfast were both very fast. We will have to visit again at a busier time to see if that is always the case!
Our room was quiet and comfortable, the bed was large as well as snuggly and what a treat to have a window that can actually be opened for fresh air fiends like us! We were in room 5, on the ground floor.
We had a lovely stay, friendly helpful staff. Lovely room, comfortable bed. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful stay really close to the town and theatres, restaurants etc. Everything is within walking distance and the walk is very picturesque too.
