the cottages aka The Bates Motel. i was looking for Norman roaming around the rooms. The cottages are extremely run down. every aspect from bathroom to decor to the ripped rugs to the 1990's TV in room. if your gonna stay here you need to book a room in the main house where the restaurant is. on a positive that house is very nice and the restaurant is great

Historic Sturbridge, what a beautiful area near the Commons in the center of town. The property was hosting 3 weddings and a family reunion, you wouldn't know it. Nice huge property, a tavern, a bakery shoppe, 1800 century cemetery, in the woods

The Publick House Inn is the best place I’ve stayed. This quaint, historic inn blends cozy charm with modern comfort. My room was spotless, with a comfy bed that ensured restful sleep and a quiet, serene vibe. The unexpected balcony, overlooking a wooded area, was perfect for listening to birdsong in peaceful privacy. My dogs felt right at home, making it a true pet-friendly gem. The restaurant’s flaky, savory chicken pot pie and the bake shop’s gooey cinnamon buns were highlights. Warm staff and charming decor sealed the deal. I can’t recommend this inn enough and can’t wait to return!

Nice older feel. Bakery was excellent. Beds were comfortable and AC was effective but loud. Outlets were in weird places. Water temp and pressure was good, showerhead was old. Pleasant stay.

From the photos, we expected a room in a traditional New England inn. What we got was more like a room in a Motel 6, in terms of its layout! It was generously sized, but the architecture and decoration (excepting the toile-inspired wallpaper and drapes) were more like a cheap motel or a sad cookie-cutter apartment complex. Everything was fine--the bed was comfortable, the room was clean--but it wasn't what we had been led to expect.

I have stayed here several times. The staff is awesome, the grounds are clean and the amenities are convenient. Well I really like this place and I will definitely stay there again, next time I will ask to be placed as far away from the people with pets as possible. While I understand that is not the hotel's fault, the huge dog in the room next to us barked, very loudly throughout my stay, it was very unpleasant.

Travel lodge area is as basic as you get though it does need some love. It seems to be the forgotten area. Good things: clean in room, safe place for a night or two, sliding doors in room. Suggestions: update the electrical plugs, sweep the stairs, add fridge, microwave and coffee pots, clear instructions on map where the restaurants are, either add hangers or furniture with drawers deeper than a pair of socks.

Checking in was very slow and confusing . Rooms were outdated and had toilet issues. The one good thing was the bakery and the lunch was very good, Time to redo all the cottages .

Beautiful setting with great rooms

Great place to stay. Our room was spacious and was quiet. Easy parking. Clean and upgraded. Good breakfast. And we had a great dinner at the same place. We did not expect the following but just to be clear there is No fridge, no microwave and no coffee maker in the room.
