Whether you come to the Florida Keys to escape the winters, or enjoy the calm waters and great fishing and diving of the summers, you will find Cudjoe Oceanside Cottage to be your Home Away From Home.

Our cottage did not have a toaster, a working microwave, or a large bowl to make a salad in. The kitchen is very sparsely equipped!However I will say when I finally reached out Susan was very helpful and brought them over the next morning. When I have stayed at Vrbo’s in the past they have toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, ect… enough for one day of our 14 day stay.The internet was very spotty, and weak. 2 bars max.The place is old style, which I understood, but it the furniture was very old and mattresses very soft.Otherwise it was good.

We loved the location of this property. It was mostly private and close enough to Key West to drive to town nightly while far enough away to have a pit j black sky at night to star gaze. We loved the semi private area. The house was just right for the two of us. We loved eating breakfast and doing devotions on the front porch each night. Susan was easy to work with and we felt very safe the whole time we were there. We utilized the heck out of those loungers by the water to do absolutely nothing. It was glorious.

Great location. The house was clean and cozy. Steps to the water for fishing or sunset views. Close to Key West but out of the craziness. Try the Squared Grouper restaurant just down the road. Great Stone Crab!!!

Spring break getaway

The property is old and needs a lot of maintenance. The AC cannot be lowered below 75F and would struggle if the temps were any higher than those when we stayed, which ranged between 75 and 78F. The appliances are old and the dishwasher did not work when we were there. The bedrooms are OK but the beds are quite soft so watch out if you have back problems. The front and side entrance stairs to the house are through stairs, which are separating from the porch at the front and kitchen door at the side of the house. We had a small child and she tripped a few times. The rear porch roof had missing parts exposing the porch completely and the porch enclosures (walls and screens) at both the front and.rear were in poor shape ( decaying, falling apart). The front porch entrance door did not close properly and if you are leaving the house, it bangs all day long in the wind ( I know because the adjacent unit’s porch door did it when they were out and we were at hone one day). The entrance to the property is really awkward if you are coming from the east. If you want to be safe, you should go about half a mile or so west to find a spot you can safely u-turn and approach the entrance from the west. All this criticism aside, we found what we were looking for, peace and quiet that is close to Bahia Honda State Park, at a reasonable price. If you cannot overlook all the issues mentioned above regarding the house, this is not the place for you.

Plenty of room for 2 couples. Dark skies and quiet area great for star gazing. Close to Key West but not in the chaos. Unit 15 needs some repairs. Be careful with the outside banister and gap between the unit and entry steps. Had a great time. Good vale for the cost.

It needs work. 3 windows on the front porch, molding missing and very dirty. Back porch has animal feces on railing. Not enough towels. Cleaning supplies not there, There was 2 tiny bottles of palmolive dish soap. Horrible stuff would not take grease off frying pan. No winded, need dawn detergent. no dishwashrt

Not what I expected

The unit we reserved was not what we expected. There was rotting wood falling from the back porch, the front steps had a large gap between them and the porch. Both of these seemed minor but once inside we found rust inside the microwave. We only stayed one of our 7 nights. The owner responded to our messages and had the rotten wood removed but refused any type of refund when we left. This could be a nice place but all of the property needs a good deal of updating and maintenance work

Cottage mit Südstaatenflair

Die Anlage und die Räumlichkeiten sind sehr schön - auf altmodische Weise symphatisch.Allerdings ist das Haus etwas renovierungsbedürftig,so ist das Holz an dem Dach der Veranda hinten morsch.Die Einrichtung der Küche war,was die Geräte betrifft,gut ausgestattet.Allerdings fehlte es an Geschirr,so gab es weder tiefe Teller noch Schalen und kein Brett zum Schneiden.Das müsste mal kontrolliert werden.Aber wir hatten,alles in allem,einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt

Understanding Expectations

This is a very affordable property for the lower Keys. It took me about 40 minutes to drive to Key West because of the strict speed limits. The property is old and is not updated. There was a note on the AC that said not to lower the temperature below 76, which I wish I would have known in advance. I read the reviews, and a recent guest complained about a leak from the ceiling. I asked about this in advance, and was told it was a clog in the AC line that was fixed. However, there was a leak from the ceiling that dripped regularly during my stay that required an bowl and towel on the floor, as the first time I walked through it I slipped (not knowing it was there). All this being said, I was just looking for a place that I could work at during the day and drive into Key West at night. The wifi was fine. The TV worked. There were basic dishes, plates, silverware available. Just know what you're getting, as its one of the least expensive places for a reason.

Great property. Met all my needs and was clean, safe, easy to find. Enjoyed my time there. The property is equidistant from Key West and Bahia Honda State Park, both of which are great places to visit and explore.
