The setting is beautiful and the staff amazing. We took our 2 Spaniels with us and stayed in a dog friendly suite. Room was huge and surprisingly warm considering it was a converted Castle. Breakfast in the morning was decent and you are within 25 mins of York. All in all a great trip and we will 100% stay here again.

Had a wonderful stay here. Incredibly personal touch from all the staff referring to me by my name, which made me feel very comfortable. An incredible property rich in history, with a modern, well-equipped room to compliment it. Food options were extensive and delicious. It was totally magical staying at the castle. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. It was marvelous exploring the castle and grounds. The road to get there is narrow and bumpy, but once you’re there it is worth it! We had a lovely breakfast in the little restaurant. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The staff were genuinely kind and very helpful, which we truly appreciated. There is, however, some room for improvement in the amenities, particularly given that the property is marketed as a luxury castle experience. Our room still had clothing from a previous guest, which affected the overall sense of cleanliness. While the stay was not unpleasant, based on our previous experiences in luxury castle hotels, this felt closer to a standard hotel experience rather than a true luxury offering.
