Good location although parts need some maintenance

Good location close to thermal pools and Huka Falls walk. Parts of chalet had been remodelled and were in good condition, other parts were dated and need repairing. No dishes suitable for cooking in the microwave (no stove provided), mould in shower, only one bed side table and the base of that was broken! They did provide Tesla chargers though! and the cleaner was helpful and engaging.

The property has so much potential, as the natural setting and proximity to the river are key aspects. The structures and grounds are poorly maintained, though. There is a lot of mold on the windows. There is no extraction fan in the bathroom and no window. The kitchenette was missing a coffee press and cooktop. The fire alarm was overly sensitive and went off when the toaster was used, even though the toast was not done (other guests had this same issue). The chalets are noisy, and one night, the guests adjacent had small children running up and down the stairs for hours and playing loud music, making it difficult to relax in our space. The "spa" is simply a large bathtub. For nearly $200 per night, we were quite disappointed. So much potential, but not up to scratch.

Photos on the website are misleading. Property is in poor condition. The bed was good. Really disappointed with this choice. It should be a 2 star hotel, not 3.

If you want just a basic place to stay at a cheap price this place is great. Especially if you have dogs. I paid $258 for 2 nights mid week which included $40 for having my 2 dogs stay. I was in room 303 which was a spa chalet. I loved the spa room off the downstairs bedroom which had a queen bed that looked reasonably new and was super comfortable. Upstairs was 2 single beds that also looked newish. The bathroom was clean and quite modern. It had everything i needed for my stay. The entire property itself looks very outdated and definitely not the ritz so dont stay here if you have high standards. The price reflects the property and it was perfect for me and my dogs and I would definitely stay here again for that reason. If you want ultra clean and flash then go elsewhere and pay the high price for it. Lots of negative comments on google for this place but I was happy with my spa chalet for the price and to be able to have my dogs stay with me.

The property has a charm about it, although a little run down. It is a shame the history behind the location isn't told to visitors, like the army camp, the grey geyser. I think this would make the location more appealing. It's go or lots of history and it's a wonderfully to quite location witj be easy access to o amazing walks as long the Waikato.

An older property but very spacious units. New bathroom and kitchen. Kitchen is very well equipped and would be excellent for extended stay. Large spa bath with natural mineral water - fantastic! Netflix provided.
