Iona Lodge is nestled in a picturesque setting near the shores of Loch Awe, Dalavich, in the Heart of Argyll. Designed to enjoy the peaceful surrounds and tranquil location, Iona Lodge is a unique A frame cabin with it's own private fenced garden. A wonderful space where the kids can play safely while you relax outdoors on the fully enclosed deck patio.
With great views over the loch and hills Iona Lodge is a perfect hideaway for a budget conscious small family or couple looking to unwind in a magical setting.
Interior
The interiors are of a comfortable standard featuring an open-plan lounge, dining, and kitchen areas with freesat Smart TV, DVD and Wi-Fi. The cabin is double glazed with electrical heating which makes it perfectly suitable for all year round accommodation.
The fitted kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker and hob, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. A full range of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery is also supplied for guests convenience.
On chilly evenings cosy up and watch the everchanging views from your living area with a good book and a glass of your favourite tipple.
Bedroom one: contains a double bed, built in clothes hanging space and a bedside cabinet, with also an electric heater.
Bedroom two: contains a double bed, wardrobe an electric heater and also a freesat TV with built in DVD player. With superb views over looking the loch and hills.
The shower room is equipped with an electric shower, wash hand basin, toilet, shaver point and a heated towel rack, and a wall mounted mirror. Bath towels not included.
On summer days take advantage of the large decking area with outdoor furniture which overlooks the large private garden, fields and loch.
The lodge is ideally situated 250 metres from the loch.
Iona Lodge is approximately a five minutes walk from the village of Dalavich which has a shop, cafe and post office where you can enjoy a morning coffee, light lunch and stock up with groceries. Take-away meals are also available from the cafe. Mountain bikes are available for hire, by the day or week.
A social club is also situated at the end of the cabin site which is owned by the village but guests from the cabins are warmly welcomed. The restaurant, bar and kitchens have had a complete refurbishment. The bar is open 7 nights a week (April to October) and 4 nights a week (November to March). The restaurant is now open for evening meals on Thursday to Sunday and is called The Lochview Grill. A coin-operated laundrette is also available on site.
Explore
There are many beautiful forest walks in the area, including The Oakwood Trail, The Avich Falls Trail and Duncan’s Walk, all of which meander through ancient oak and pine forests. Pine marten, fox, wild cats red deer, roe deer, otter and red squirrels can often be seen. There are also regular sightings of eagles and ospreys. Apart from the signed trails, there is up to 100 miles of forest tracks and roads in the area, suitable for the serious walker or mountain biker.
Loch Awe itself is beautiful, far away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and as of now, still under-developed with no noisy water sports to shatter the peace. It has many islands worth visiting, including Innis Chonnel Castle, the first stronghold of the Campbells. The remains of Crannogs; pre historic island hut settlements, can still be seen when the loch is low, at different points along the lochside. The fishing is legendary with monster trout up to 30lb (~14Kg), salmon, sea trout, pike, perch, char etc, depending on the season.
A wonderful base to explore the boundless historical and scenic attractions that are on offer in this beautiful region. Explore further afield to Inveraray and historic Kilmartin Glen, it's also an easy day trip to Oban, one of the seafood capitals of Scotland.
