We enjoyed our stay at the Shinjuku Washington Hotel Annex. The room size was good for a Japanese hotel, and the tunnel access directly from Shinjuku Station was a huge convenience on cold rainy/windy days. The bathroom was adequate but felt similar to those in lower-priced 3-star hotels. Despite this, the hotel's convenient location and comfortable rooms make it a worthwhile option in Shinjuku.

Honestly I was nervous reading some of the bad reviews, but it was a perfect stay. Some people complained the room was small but we booked a double room and it was bigger than most hotel rooms we’ve stayed in in Japan with a desk and plenty of room to open our suitcases. Lieke of course it’s small compared to other country standards but it’s Shinjuku in a giant metro area. Everything was perfectly clean, the room was quiet, building was safe, elevator was so fast. We were on floor 8. The only thing I wish was different was you can’t change the temperature in the room, one night it got too hot but we fixed it by turning off the air. They also gave us a fan and an air purifier so it was fine. We also didn’t have any plugs close to the bed so we couldn’t charge our phone and use them while in bed which was annoying but fine in th grand scheme of things. Overall affordable and nice!

Even better than expected. The room was extremely clean, quiet, and full of amenities. The staff were friendly always. I loved that you can leave your luggage in a safe area to go around the city before check-in, and the breakfast was great. The breakfast area gets crowded (I had to wait for half an hour) so make sure to go early if you have an appointment.

Basically everything that could go wrong does go wrong with this hotel. I booked a room with my own family as well as other friends staying in separate rooms at the annex, and we all had similar complaints. During our stay, the room was incredibly hot. When we talked about this issue to the front desk, we requested that they possibly open the window for us, which they promptly declined. Afterwords, we were told to turn the air conditioning to the max and turn on the Dyson fan that was provided with our room. We told them we already did this and the response was that they would try their best to fix it, and when we asked what exactly their best was, they did not have an answer. We later found out that the air conditioning was actually actively harming us as it turns on the heat instead. After turning off the air conditioning the room was a little more bearable with 2 fans running, but was still uncomfortable. There was also excessive noise. Combined with the 2 noisy fans that were constantly running just to keep the room at a bearable temperature, it seemed as though there was always banging on the floor above us. The rooms were also incredibly dirty with visible areas grey with dust, as well as lamps and fixtures having visible dirt, grime, and dust. There are also limited outlets, with only 5 outlets for a 3 bed room. The location is also quite poor, being far from the station. The facilities are decent but does not excuse the many other negatives of this hotel.
