They’ll love days out at Paignton Zoo (8.5 miles) and scenic Blackpool Sands Beach (19.5 miles). The colourful seaside town Torquay (10.5 miles) has a harbour and a yacht-filled marina with plenty of restaurants with fantastic views to while away afternoons. This cottage, in a small complex of other cottages, is located in charming Broadhempston where you can sample the traditional rural pub less than a mile from the property.


There are three steps up to this reverse-level cottage where you’ll enter into the upstairs, open-plan kitchen, living room and diner: a spacious socialising area that runs the length of the building and has charming original features like the exposed beams and apex ceiling. Home cook, dine at the six-seater table then retire to the cosy living area with its ample sofas (including a plush corner sofa) and wood burner. The Smart TV and bookshelf provide entertainment for all the family. Head downstairs to the ground floor and you’ll find a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and French doors that open onto the shared terrace. The king-size bedroom has zip-and-link beds and yet more French doors that open onto the shared terrace. There’s also a twin bedroom and a bathroom featuring a bath (with a shower over it) for pampering sessions.


There’s plenty of space to relax alfresco at this cottages complex, where three other holiday cottages and the owners’ farmhouse share 4 acres of orchard, a lawn, furnished garden (which contains slopes), an indoor swimming pool and a furnished veranda that has a sunken hot tub and sweeping views over the surrounding South Devon countryside. You’ll benefit from the cottage’s own courtyard area with a charcoal BBQ for outdoor dining in the fresh, country air. Please make sure that children are always be supervised around the pool, hot tub and outdoor area.
