Immerse yourself in the magic of the Driftless at this cozy cabin just 5 miles from Viroqua on a quiet dead-end lane. Tucked into 6 beautiful acres, the property features endless opportunities for outdoor recreation. It is bordered by two creeks, including Bishop Branch class 1 trout stream, and is adjacent to many acres of forested DNR public land. Whether you are looking for excellent fishing, hunting, foraging, or birding, or are simply seeking a relaxing sanctuary away from the bustle of modern life, you'll find it here. Children and the young-at-heart will enjoy the huge yard for fun games, picnic tables for a delicious local-foods lunch, the nearby creek to splash in, and hiking trails to explore.
If you'd like to venture off the property, nearby Viroqua is a unique and thriving small town with lovely parks, a wonderful Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings, several award-winning restaurants, art galleries, a yarn shop, bookstores, a record store, a theatre, live music, and much more. In the countryside surrounding Viroqua are numerous county parks and DNR land that highlight the lovely hills, streams, and lakes of the Driftless.
After a day of exploring all the Driftless has to offer, come home to relax and unwind as you listen to the bubbling creek, sit around a flickering fire, admire the view from the covered porch, or snuggle on the couch. Inside the well-kept cabin, guests will find a fully stocked kitchen and comfortable bedrooms with a queen bed, a full bed, two twin beds, and a sofa bed, just perfect for a group or family.
For your comfort and health, this cabin is managed in an eco-friendly manner, using high-end dye and fragrance-free cleaners, laundry soap, dish soap, and hand soap. Paper products are high-quality, chlorine-bleach free, and recycled. Locally-sourced and organic coffees and teas are provided for our guests. Recycling of glass, paper/cardboard, plastic, and aluminum is encouraged and receptacles provided. The entire property is organically run, and we use no chemicals or harmful sprays.
Coffee and tea lovers--If you love your coffee, you'll be happy to find not only local and organically sourced coffees and teas stocked at the cabin, but also a French press and WonderState Coffee whole beans, with a grinder to process them on the spot. There is also a Keurig coffee maker with med roast cups provided, or a coffee pot with med. roast loose coffee provided. A variety of teas are available as well, including green, black, mint, chamomile, and more.
Dog lovers--Although we are not officially a "pets allowed" property, we love dogs, too, and are open to welcoming very well-behaved dogs as long as they stay entirely outside the home, are on a leash at all times, sleep inside a vehicle so they don't bark at night, and stay off the deck furniture. Please ask about this option BEFORE bringing your dog. Thank you!
Kids--This is a wonderful property for kids to enjoy the wonders of nature in the easily accessible, kid-friendly creeks and woods! Let me know if you'd like extra toys or art supplies for your children. I am a teacher and lead nature camps here in the valley. I would love to help make your child's experience here extra special, and the vacation time more relaxing for you hard-working parents.
In summary, the convenient location of this delightful oasis invites guests to enjoy a peaceful retreat in nature with all the amenities they need. We know you'll love your time here.
