Worst Vrbo Experience – Unsafe, Unsanitary, and Uninhabitable Rental (May 23–26, 2025)This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a Vrbo rental.We booked this unit from May 23–26 because it advertised 4 bedrooms with 5 beds, which was perfect for our group’s need for space and privacy. We arrived around 6:00 PM to check in—and by 7:45 PM, we had no choice but to leave the property due to serious safety and cleanliness concerns.Here’s what went wrong:Dangerous NeighborhoodThe property is located on V Street in Washington, DC, which is in an extremely rough and unsafe neighborhood. Even a responding police officer warned us that “once the sun goes down, the shootings start,” and expressed disbelief that tourists were being placed there.Broken and Unsafe BedsOut of the five beds listed:The king-size bed had no support under the mattress—it folded in half and collapsed to the floor.One queen bed fell off its frame every time someone laid down.The other queen bed had wooden slats that kept falling out, causing the mattress to slide and shift dangerously.These beds were completely unusable, not just mildly uncomfortable.Unsanitary ConditionsThe twin bed had nail clippings and blood stains on the pillowcase and sheets.The bathroom rug was visibly dirty, covered in mud and grime.Several bedsheets smelled strongly of sweat and musk, indicating they had not been properly laundered.Response from Host and Vrbo:I contacted Vrbo immediately and wa
