The hotel was a very nice new property. Most of the staff were very helpful and kind. We did, however, have an incident. Having disabilities, sometimes days can be difficult after travel & we had to request an hour later check out. The front staff worker was seemingly not understanding of the person with a disability and not willing to offer any alternative or to be able to reasonably communicate with someone distraught and in pain. More than one attempt was made to speak with the staff worker before becoming very upset and tearful. The request to speak with a manager was also denied by the staff worker. The hotel was not busy at all at that time and it would not have inconvenienced the staff to have allowed the person an extra hour to be able to gather themselves to vacate the property. This could be in violation of the ADA law which needs to be considered. I think that staff could be better trained on working with people with disabilities and accommodations, and not dehumanizing the person. They mentioned that “it is Marriott and they can’t just do that” which is a very unfortunate statement. We have been a member for years and never had anything like this happen. It was a very unfortunate occurrence that could’ve been avoided. The facility is very nice and it’s in a good area not too far from campus.
