Stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms and it was exceptional. All of the refurbished areas were a great standard. The new bar was superb and busy every evening. Buffet breakfast also superb and freshly replenished. Price was spot on with great views over the west cliff. Definitely recommend.

It’s great to see the Royal being improved. Was disappointed that we paid for a sea view to find our view obscured with scaffolding. Had we known we wouldn’t have paid the extra for this view. Hotel staff said this is mentioned on their own website but not on hotel booking sites which is disappointing. Check if you’re about to pay the extra.

We booked cosy double room however this room was a bit tired and window wouldn't close so staff upgraded us to executive double, fabulous room the bar downstairs is great and when all the hotel is upgraded it will be amazing

Your staff are great my wife has issues and a care dog when we arrived I thought we where going home because my wife was having problems after a 6 hour drive but your man behind the reception was great we had lunch and stayed and even booked an extra night All staff from reception too bar staff and cleaning brilliant Thankyou for a great stay we will be back for more stays to see the upgrades to the Hotel XX

Lovely stay at a lovely hotel. The staff were all very good, courteous and friendly. We had a nice sea view passed the scaffolding (which we knew about before we booked). The room was nice and clean. The only drawback was that one side of the bed was against a wall as the room was quite small but was ok as it was a short stay. We always leave out the “do not disturb “ sign for short breaks and was pleasantly surprised to find fresh supplies of consumables (tea, milk, toilet rolls etc) outside the door each day.

The renovated reception and bar area was lovely. We had huge issues with the room as it was an older room (331) the main issues was it was absolutely boiling. There was no way to change the heat at all which lead to barely any sleep (combined with uncomfy bed) room is tired and the shower didn’t work properly (not hot). Breakfast was ok but there was little of the hot food left when we went for the booked time at 9.15. Staff were lovely although we didn’t have much contact. I think when the renovation is done it could be lovely but at the moment it isn’t worth the money.
