On arrival reception staff were really nice, the first night we had a little issue with the room. We contacted reception who moved us to another room the following morning. This room was superb. The hotel is currently in the process of renovation to all rooms. We will definitely be returning.

Whitby Stay

We stayed for two nights at The Royal. We had a room which had just been refurbished and was lovely. The Hotel had been painted and renovated since there last year when we stayed one night. The staff were all kind, helpful and polite. We had breakfast which was really good. We will certainly stay again. The Royal is really close to Whitby Bay.

Excellent hotel, despite scaffolding on one side of building and lift being refurbished. Staff very helpful and reasonably priced drinks. Gravel car park is very uneven and on a steep slope that could be improved.

The staff make your visit worthwhile.

Staff are extremely welcoming friendly and helpful. Food and drinks are amazing. Very comfortable, clean beds and clean bathroom. Would definitely stay again.

The bed was super comfortable and the refurbished bar and restaurant were excellent. The only downside was that the lift wasn’t working due to a new one being installed. It’s the second time that we’ve stayed in this hotel and it certainly won’t be the last

If you want to stay in a hovel stay in room 4

Lift out of action with wife e in wheelchair then given a room on 3rd floor. Lady on reception sorted room on ground floor and said it was an upgrade and would not charge. Went to room and it was a disgrace smelly radiator gave it rustic charm only because the radiator was totally rusty. I did ask if this was a upgrade and was told it was but as I then said you have upgraded us from a urinal to a sit down toilet. The manager appeared and hey ho we we moved next door and was miles better why not the day before

Hotel ok

Lovely breakfast Only downside is that the lift is not in use till October so its stairs all the way. They do provide help with your luggage but if you have mobility issues the stairs are an issue. We had been give a room on the third floor but the receptionist did move us to the first floor. Staff friendly and helpful. Will go back but when the lift is working. The first we knew was when i got an email but we was already in whitby.

The hotel is being renovated but that didnt spoil our stay the staff were all friendly and the bar and restaurant area were stunning. Stayed in room 108 which had two large windows with amazing views.

Hotel was of good standard Having an elderly mum been placed on the 3rd floor with no lift in service made it a challenge. Hotel could do with been more disabled friendly as there was no ramps

The staff are amazing. The Royal is undergoing a major refurb, but no inconvenience caused with the cleaner's doing an exceptional job. I was booked in for bed and breakfast of which the breakfast was well worth the money and the service again excellent.
