The view was the best! Beachfront, with gorgeous, wide sandy beach. The condo was well equipped. Sheets could have been softer. I found them to be rough. Everything was great.

A little disappointed in this property. I’d seen this property online many times and based on the online photos and descriptions, I was excited to get to try it. The facility is “older” but I can live with that. I didn’t feel it was very clean and there’s a big difference between “old” and “clean.” Rooms are quite small. Would not be able to stay longer than one night or two and definitely could not stay with more than two people in the unit. No amenities were available while we were there so I can’t comment on those. Ocean view was really nice. Pool area appeared to be quite nice and great beach access. Will not book here again however.

The property seems very run down and out of current building code standards. Several lights did not work and even after asking for staff to investigate, nothing changed. Additionally, the floors and room in general looked dirty. I would not stay here again. This was a stark difference from the stay I had in the Holiday Inn down the street.

We had a wonderful time at Shell Island. Amazing location and views at the very north end of the island.! Off season the restaurant only open on weekends & the food was just ok. Travel into Wrightsville for great restaurants Definitely recommend as a place to stay.

The ocean view was definitely the highlight of our stay. However, the room was outdated and had some maintenance issues ..the outlets didn’t work correctly to charge any of our devices and the bathroom sink handle was broken. At checkout, we asked to extend our stay, but Anna told us the hotel was fully booked. After loading our car, we found out they did have rooms available, which was frustrating. Staff wasn’t particularly friendly either. The room was functional, but the overall experience could’ve been better.

The Shell Island Resort was disappointing based on other reviews. The renovations were minimal and surface level. The accommodations were small. The restaurant was closed so we had to leave the resort for every meal. $50 resort fee for 2 days. Chairs, umbrellas and beach towels are an extra fee. The positive was the amazing ocean front view. Overall the stay was ok. We were there for only 2 nights. I wouldn’t want to stay for a full week at this price for what you receive as a guest.

Great beach but some general maintenance issues.

The floors could have been cleaner. The drains and bathtub enclosure were stained. Several lamps were broken and the legs on the side table and 2 chairs were very loose and I had to tighten them up. But most of all the water had a very strong sulphur smell that was almost unbearable at times and surely could not be drinken. It was even hard to take a shower due to the smell of the water. And the sound of slamming doors made sleeping an issue. However the view and beach were wonderful and the staff were very professional and accommodating. The kitchen was equipped as expected but not everything was there you needed. Limited silverware and dishes. The pools and hot tub were very well maintained and the grounds were cleand daily. 50/50 if I would stay there again.

The beds were uncomfortable. You sunk into the middle and could feel the springs. The pillows were like rocks. The pull out sofa cushions were stained. The mattress was horrible. The toliet paper was so cheap it felt like it scratched your skin. The kitchen cabinet door was barely hanging on and the table was wobbly. The indoor poor was dimly lit and it made it uncomfortable to swim in there with other families after sunset. This was just a few of the major issues.

I stayed here two years ago and it was ok. This time there were several problems. First the shower and shower curtain were filthy. The water coming out of the faucet and in the commode smelled like sewage, not the usual sulfur smell that most beach hotels have. The temperature of the unit was unable to be changed by the wall thermostat. While preparing a cup of coffee I discovered a gelled residue on the place where a coffee cup would be placed. As I was checking out early because I could not take a shower in dirty conditions, I told the staf, but there response was minimal. And one more thing, the air filer in the cooling unit probably had not been changed in months. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again

They should really replace the sheets. All the sheets are gross and stained. Asked to replace them, they just turned them inside out. Then, asked for a set of sheets to do it myself and they still brought the sheets with stains. Would not recommend this hotel, especially if traveling with kids.
