Wilmington Range Log Cabin on the AuSable River

Adirondack log home located on the Ausable River with mountain views of Whiteface Mt and the Wilmington Range. Enjoy the Adirondacks based out of this cute log cabin with rustic charm, views, and peacefulness, located a minute away from Wilmington town center and 5 minutes away from Whiteface Mt Olympic ski area! This 2.5 bedroom charming log chalet-style home is the perfect size for a week or weekend getaway to the Adirondack Mountains. A staircase leads from the home to a riverside deck.

Wilmington Range Chalet has beautiful real round log exterior walls, cedar and pine ceilings, hardwood floors, and large log beams, with a huge 12`x24` ft exterior deck overlooking the Ausable River, and a master bedroom balcony over cedar logs, and a river`s edge seating area. The log house is built almost over the Ausable River, set amid some towering white pines on the steep river bank, at the end of a 300ft driveway with the neighbors` houses set well away along the roadside frontage. The sounds of the West Branch of the Ausable River, or the wind through the pines from atop the cedar balcony, are the only thing one hears from the house, despite being located most conveniently only 1 minute to the center of the small town of Wilmington and it`s various shops. The log house is built overlooking the Ausable River, set amid some tall white pines on the steep river bank, and set well back from the road frontage.

This charming log chalet-style home is the perfect size for a week or weekend getaway to the Adirondack Mountains, and you`ll feel you`re in the Adirondacks whether in this home, or out enjoying the Adirondack region. The world class town of Lake Placid is just 15 minutes away, with fine dining and shopping, and it`s the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks with the best access for hiking. Keene Valley, a hiker`s destination, is also just 15 minutes away. And of course, Whiteface Mt ski area is just up the road 5 minutes away. The Ausable River is world famous for its fly fishing, and you can even enjoy your private fishing area on the bank in front of your vacation home. Wilmington is really located in a great area of the Adirondacks - it`s the ski and mountain biking capital of the Adirondacks, and 15 minutes away from the best hiking in New York State.

Wilmington Range Chalet features a large deck with views of the Wilmington Range mountains and overlooking the Ausable River and with Adirondack cedar chairs. A long staircase leads from the house down to a magical riverside seating deck down by the river`s edge. A BBQ gas grill is available for your use (propane provided), canoe for guests use on nearby ponds, and a firepit with plenty of complimentary wood to burn! (read firewood policy posted at firepit.)

Wilmington Range Chalet was lovingly built in 2013 by life-long Adirondack resident and owner and Johnathan Esper, with meticulous attention to log design born from the owner`s fond memories of growing up in a log home. The first floor of the 1400 sq. foot house follows an open floor plan concept with kitchen, dining, and living rooms, plus a full bath and laundry room and bedroom with queen bed. Enjoy the cozy gas fireplace with real flames, while looking out the window toward the Wilmington Range. Radiant in-floor heating throughout the house also provides warmth and coziness, and in the hotter summer months, the natural thermal properties of logs keep the house cool, along with french bi-fold doors opening onto the deck for fresh air. An A/C unit is provided in the hotter months to keep the house cool as well. The kitchen is on the smaller side yet still fully equipped for you to make lovely meals if you so wish. Upstairs is the master suite area including loft seating area and bath. The bedroom featuring a walkout balcony, and mountain and river views from the king size bed. The upstairs bathroom is entirely of slate tile and red cedar, with a large jacuzzi hot-tub. There is a large loft area, which can enjoyed as a lounging area for the master suite, or desk working area, or kids sleeping area with both a made up twin bed, and also a comfy futon that can lay out flat for children.

Nice Base in Willmington

The Chalet was a great location to base my hiking trip. Loved that I could sit and hear the river below but also get a pizza or gas easily in Wilmington. Cabin was clean and just as advertised and had everything i needed for a great stay. Johnathon was very helpful when needed and I had a great stay. Would definitely come again!

The perfect getaway

We rented this property multiple times so far and each time we get to know and love it even more. The views and overall atmosphere keep us coming back but overall the experience is always amazing. The cleanliness is something to make note of as well, the cleaning staff do a great job because each time we have rented this location it was obvious that they put a lot of time in to making the place feel clean and comfortable. Always a very high recommendation.

Classic rustic cabin design

Cabin design reminded me of a family cabin from 60 years ago. Many rustic interior design elements that added to the feel. Great location for fishing, golfing, hiking and relaxing. Owner was very responsive. Great spot for fly fishing. Would like to return.

Perfect!

This house and our stay was fantastic. We came and stayed for our wedding and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The house is nicely Decorated and tucked back in the trees on a beautiful property. After our wedding we enjoyed taking our own pictures at the end of the day down by the water and up on the balcony with gorgeous views. 10/10 everything was great and we highly recommend!

Unbeatable views!

This cabin is exactly as advertised with amazing views from the balcony and deck and the furnishings complete the anesthetic perfectly. The owner is very responsive and check-in and out was seamless. The steps down to the river are very sturdy but might be hard for old or very young guests. At first arrival i was concerned it wouldn't be as remote as I had thought but despite being near other houses you feel completely remote in the back yard and have complete privacy. We'll be back!

Absolutely perfect

I have been a long time user of VRBO and this location was perfect for near by points of interest and property was above and beyond what we expected. Cabin was clean and set up to accommodate every type of visitor to fine detail and the views are extraordinary. Communication was great and property has easy access and parking. I have stayed in several cabins via VRBO and I have to say that this was the best by far and exceeded in every category. Would definitely recommend and if we are ever in the area again would do this location again.

Perfect Scenic getaway

My family and I had a great experience staying here for a week. Johnathan was very accommodating to ensure that my whole family+pets were able to stay comfortably. The best part of this property would have to be the mountain views and the river at the back of the property. Would love to stay again in the future.

Adirondack Beauty

Wow! This place was beautiful!!! I'll start by saying, Johnathan - the owner, was awesome to deal with. He was quick to respond with any questions we had. We had no issues while staying at this cabin so, in terms of emergency or any emergent issues, we didn't have to contact anyone which is terrific! On a side note, Johnathan's photography is throughout the cabin. It's beautiful and gives this cabin a personal touch! The cabin itself was so clean and very well kept and so comfortable. And that view...OH MY!!!! The balcony off the main bedroom upstairs was our favorite spot (ours and our pup's). We were even able to sit on the balcony while it rained as there is a little overhang that gives it just the right amount of coverage in a downpour. This cabin is well appointed with anything you could possibly need. The steps to the river were a little steep so we didn't go down but a few times. That's alright though because you can hear the river from the cabin. It is so quiet and you hear no road noise, at all, even though you are close to town. And convenience, it couldn't be beat. We were within 2 minutes to terrific food (the pizza place in town was SO good). And we were within 20 minutes of Lake Placid. There's Whiteface Mountain up the road and within minutes or SO many amazing hikes. This cabin was amazing!!! We are so happy we chose to stay here and Johnathan rented his amazing cabin to us! We would love to stay here again at some point!!!
