Convenient for South Gate and shopping

Pros: Close to city sights and metro system, value for money when compared to major chains
Cons: Bathroom smell, better breakfast choices
Location: Close to city walls, South Gate, Pagodas and metro. Easy to reach Terracotta Army.
Reasonable standard independent hotel, but not well known by taxi drivers at Xian Airport, resulting in longer journey time. Efficient check-in with some English spoken, but whilst one room had been prepared and the AC was on, the other had not and was stuffy with a very unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Room facilities good if a little dated. Breakfast selection was adequate but poor in comparison to major chain hotels. Room smell had been dealt with on our return from first day's activities. Close to Metro station (400yds). Easy to hail taxis and reach bus station to get to Terracotta Army on public transport. Very close to the impressive South Gate, Drum Tower and city wall, fantastic floodlighting after dark. Shopping malls close by, but many restaurants seemed to close by 10pm, food not served after 9.20pm. Good atmosphere on streets, felt safe for family. Concierge able to arrange private transfer back to airport.
