I loved the well-designed hotel room with panels if you want to divide space and the location is fabulous since you can visit any temples and shrines with easy access. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

A Perfect Stay at Metropolitan Kamakura Hotel

My recent stay at the Metropolitan Kamakura Hotel was absolutely wonderful. Located in the heart of Kamakura, this hotel offers the perfect balance of modern comfort and traditional charm, making it an ideal choice for both relaxation and sightseeing. The rooms are elegantly designed, with a minimalist yet stylish decor that reflects the beauty of Kamakura. They are spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with high-quality amenities. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep after a day of exploring the city. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from Komachi Street, filled with charming shops and delicious local eateries, and within walking distance of iconic landmarks like Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. It’s also conveniently close to the train station, making travel easy. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, providing top-notch service throughout my stay. We picked this hotel primarily for its very central location and only about two blocks from the train station. It was an excellent pick. New, clean, and good design. We walked to everything once we arrived. Would stay here again if visiting Kamakura.

Excellent all around. My family and I loved it. I'd definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Kamakura. Housekeeping always did an amazing job. Great amenities too.

The hotel is very nice, with comfortable beds and a nice combined shower/ bath bathroom. It is very clean and we appreciated that we could access CNN, Netflix, and You Tube videos using our accounts. The main problem we had was that when we asked if we could check out at 12 noon instead of 11 am today until our son returned from taking our granddaughter to the dermatologist so he could drive us to their home, the front desk staff said that would be an extra 3000 yen charge. We have stayed at this hotel a few times when visiting our son, his wife, and our two young grandchildren in Kamakura over the past 3 years or so. Charging us extra to stay an hour past the usual checkout time is not a good way to show the hotel’s appreciation for our continued business. We will likely return in late March 2025. On two separate nights we stayed here, the TV remote’s batteries must have been low, as pressing the buttons on the remote didn’t consistently send a command.

We stayed in many hotels this last month in Japan, and the Metropolitan ranked in our top 4. Its location is ideal, being 5 minutes from the station and shopping street, and within 10 minutes walk of 2 temples. The design of the hotel is very soothing—an inner atrium, a comfortable lobby, floral and glass art designs on each floor, and all in warm tints of light browns and creams. We had a basic room and it was well laid out, with very good attention to the details that make for a pleasant stay. We would definitely stay again.
