I had a twin bed room where the beds were close together it was more like a double bed. Apart from the room being clean there was coat hooks above full lenth mirror. having a small single wardrobe for 2 people ended up not having hardly any room to move around.

The bed was very uncomfortable, two single beds put together and not joined properly so there was a giant ridge in the middle. I asked for 4 pillows at reception, explaining that I needed to sleep propped up. I was only given three, which I find hard to believe given the size of the hotel. The thermostat seemed to have a mind of its own so it was boiling hot one minute and freezing cold the next. You couldn’t even open the window a crack to let some air in. The staff seemed indifferent to our requests and our feedback. We wouldn’t stay at this particular Holiday Inn again.

Reading negative reviews prior to our stay left us feeling like we had possibly made the wrong choice. From the minute we arrived, our experience could not have been better. Staff were very polite and friendly. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Wifi was excellent. Beds comfy, (more pillows would be good, but I’m sure they would be available if requested. Breakfast was excellent, very tasty and good quality, staff again polite and helpful. Location is perfect for exploring everything York has to offer. Long term parking available just behind the hotel, but numbers are limited, had to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to leave before we could park. That is the only downside to the hotel. Thank you

The room is too small and congested for a family. No place to move around in the room. Break fast was all over the place. Parking is away from hotel and not guaranteed. I forgot my sweater in the room and the staff did not find it in the room surprisingly. It was a memorable gift, the staff could have been more professional.

Perfectly located, short walk to castle, Christmas markets, city centre. Staff very friendly, comfortable rooms, stayed on a Thurs/fri night before Xmas, some outside noise heard but not a big disturbance. Breakfast was great, lots of options

Tv remote did not work and no toilet rolls in room on arrival and remedied eventually after chasing. Breakfast food lowest quality available and we went to McDonalds the second morning! Bar had run out of bottled beer, gin and Baileys and no room service. Very poor and not worth HALF the cost! Go somewhere else if possible.

Reception/breakfast staff were v courteous. The hotel is dates. The toilet sink qas clogged and no one cleaned our room. Unfortunately we were out all day hence only realised late when arriving in the room after 9pm

the room was really clean and the hotel was quiet, breakfast was good and lots of choice, however didnt think much of the menu choice for meals. I had a lamb shank but only got small piece of potato mash no veg which is unusual when you order and also not always keen on curries so better choice would be nice

no parking on site and quite expensive had a room on the front which was quite noisy asked to change and got the “ no available rooms to change to “ rooms are small and if on a lower floor you get noise from upper floors
