Know before you book

What you can expect

Make your way to the southern end of Santorini to explore the island’s less-touristed attractions. Take in breathtaking panoramas from a hilltop monastery, roam the serene streets of a quiet village, and kick back on a black sand beach and a guided visit of an ancient archaeological site.

Your knowledgeable guide choices you up from your hotel and drives towards the breathtaking Prophet Elias Monastery, which sits perched at the highest point of the island, 1,804 feet (550 m) above the cobalt sea below. Take in the sweeping scenery and admire the whitewashed bell tower before continuing on.

Head to the quiet village of Megalochori, where traditional buildings sit like sugar cubes among the sun-soaked vineyards. Follow your guide through narrow streets and bougainvillea-draped archways before winding down towards Akrotiri.

Finally, arrive at Akrotiri, a fascinating ancient archaeological site. Explore the Minoan city’s well-preserved frescoes and works of art—the Bronze Age settlement was buried in ash in the 17th century BC. You can then visit the beautiful Red Beach (approach by foot approximately 10 minutes) or enjoy your free time at Akrotiri Bay.

Visit Perissa Black Beach afterwards, where you can enjoy some time for swimming.
