Super nice modernized vintage hotel from the 1930's. This was known THE "nicest hotel west of the rockies" back in the day! It's been meticulously redone about 15 years ago, and is wonderfully charming. Dog friendly, too! We plan on returning to explore it more.

Old and Stylish - not many "Extras"

In Bakersfield there are not a lot of options for a unique and stylish hotel. This is really it! It's a fun older hotel - almost 100 years old but very well kept and rooms are clean and upgraded nicely. There is a "rooftop" bar but we assumed it was on the "roof" - could have been cool to see the view. It's actually on the 2nd floor and they had parties there both nights with a cover so we didn't get to try it.

Great, except for....

Every was lovely: nice decore, comfortable bed, great staff, very clean EXCEPT for when I arrived there was a long black hair hanging on the body wash container. I avoided it during my shower, and the next morning I let the front desk know that the shower needed to be cleaned a bit more thoroughly. I left for some business but when I returned, it was still there. The room had been attended to but the trash was not emptied and the gross hair was still there. I informed the front desk and they sent someone immediately to remedy the issue. This person was very thorough, and I definitely appreciated the quick attention.
