Excellent stay in comfortable, historic hotel located at end of Bryggen wharf. Comfortable, spacious room, though mattresses are a bit thin. Ample breakfast and the”light dinner” option precludes the need to eat in town (have lunch in town instead). Walked from hotel to onboard our ship for our cruise.

We loved the beautiful lobby, location, free breakfast and helpful staff. Just a few minor recommended improvements. The hotel does not provide facecloths for washing. Fortunately, we brought one ourselves. The bed for a deluxe room had very poor beds which sank in the center. We recommend that they install new or firmer mattresses. So overall, 4.5 stars out of 5.

Quiet and comfortable hotel

Hotel is very close (5 minute walk ) to the tourist area of Bergen but is still quiet and relaxing . Breakfast was amazing , with so many options from eggs , bacon , muesli , yoghurt , fresh fruit and fish and pâté. Dinner was also very good , with a soup , salad and a main meal . All cooked that day and very fresh and tasty . Rooms and beds were comfortable . We reserved a parking spot as I’m not sure where else you would park . There are only 5 spots at $30 per night so not cheap . We really didn’t need a car in Bergen and should have ended the rental as it was the end of our vacation and we walked pretty much everywhere in Bergen . Enjoyed our stay here .

Perfect location in the "tenderloin" of Bergen. great hotel, friendly staff, Breakfast is fantastic. Rooms maybe on the smaller side, but impeccably clean with comfy beds.

Two meals a day Breakfast and dinner included The meals had a wide variety of fresh fish,pork, vegetables salads pasta potatoes Nicely prepared and good tasting. If you combine the food location and accessibility the hotel is a winner.

The breakfasts were superb. Dinners were good as well. Overall good European food. Attentive staff throughout our stay. The bedding was wonderful. Nice hot showers However, don’t book a courtyard view, as it is not a nice courtyard at all. They accommodated us with a better room after complaining.

Hotel is beautiful and ideally located. The room was lovely and comfortable and, when closed, the windows completely blocked street noise. There were no instructions for temperature control, however, which were desperately needed since closing the windows made the room quite warm. One star off because the "included dinner," which we chose assuming we'd be exhausted after a long journey, was stunningly mediocre--think middle school cafeteria. It really should be avoided. But doing so makes the hotel rather pricey, so were I to do it again, I would probably look at other, equally convenient, pleasant options and use the savings for a better meal.

Good location and room size

This hotel location is great, and it does include full board if that is important or appealing to you. The room is also fairly spacious for the area. The food is okay, but you can definitely find better food at the local restaurants. I’m not sure it’s worth paying more for a room to include the food than finding a cheaper room in same location but without food. But also consider that other hotels may have smaller rooms.

Good and not so good

The location is fantastic. The hotel is clean and the public areas are very nice. Breakfast is wonderful and the evening meal is adequate but limited choice. The biggest problem is that they attempt to fill the worst rooms facing a dull backyard first. Having booked a superior room we lost a day arguing for at least some view and natural light. It’s a poor practice which reflects badly on an otherwise good hotel.

Love these home hotels. Don't pay extra for breakfast because it as well as snack and dinner are included! Lovely, older hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable. Great location. Walkable to tourist areas and restaurants.

Great hotel!

This hotel has an excellent location - walking distance to all of Bryggen, the funicular to Mt Fløyen, and to many other sites in Bergen/Bryggen. There was a small problem with our room upon check-in, but the staff handled it beautifully and we felt well taken care of. Breakfast was lovely as well.

Great location. Easy to walk to most things in town. Staff very helpful. Breakfast and dinner included. For those who like a very cold room to sleep. No AC. Came in August. No issue because it was cool at night still. But you cannot leave your windows open at night. The proximity to the street and night life - too loud . Well insulated - when windows closed you could here nothing
