Beautiful hotel but the street noise will break your heart. Beautiful place, luxurious rooms, beyond excellent service but I got no sleep with the disturbingly loud and heartbreaking encampments of displaced and mentally disturbed people who live on the surrounding streets. It's the state of downtown Berkeley. The hotel is safe and clean. It's nothing that is solvable but I suggest insisting on a non-street facing room.

No heat! Tried three other rooms going int the middle of the night; All the three rooms had no heat. Finally, we were given a portable heater which overheated the room. No rest for the night. One other guest told me he had to change the room two times over his long stay at this hotel. Requested a refund. Manager gave us 50% off the first of the two nights. Ruined our visit/ vacation in the area! Need to figure out how to contact Expedia for the refund to be processed.
