I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Vestal for 11 nights. The experience was a mix of genuinely kind staff and some significant facility shortcomings that impacted my stay.
The Good:
The highlight of my stay was the staff. Every team member I interacted with was very nice, professional, and accommodating to the best of their abilities. They genuinely seemed to want guests to be comfortable.
The continental breakfast was a nice offering to start the day. However, staying for 11 days, the options were quite limited and became unappealing and repetitive after the first few mornings.
The Bad (Facility Issues):
Unfortunately, several maintenance issues detracted heavily from the experience:
Bathroom Essentials: The bathroom placard claimed certain basic essentials would be provided, but simple items like Q-tips were missing throughout my stay.
Water Issues: The worst issue was the incredibly inconsistent hot water in the shower. I spent more time trying to regulate the temperature than I did actually enjoying a shower—it was a daily frustration.
Cleanliness/Maintenance: There was a strong smell of chlorine upon entry into the hotel lobby. In my room, the bathroom paint was peeling, the carpets felt dirty, and I noticed mold at the base of the bathtub.
Elevator: The elevator felt very old and "sketchy," which did not inspire confidence in the building's overall maintenance.
