While I can understand that they were likely slammed with reservations on New Year’s Eve that doesn’t excuse much of the disappointment in the experience. Arrived at 5pm and the lobby was full of guests waiting to get into their rooms because cleaning was still underway. While we were lucky enough to get into our room upon arrival, it wasn’t without issue. I reserved a full lake view room to be able to see the fireworks but was given a partial lake view. I disagreed, was asked to show proof, told that I had booked incorrectly and that they had changing their naming structure of the different room types. Ultimately I got the room I reserved but not without headache. The room was clean, but we found trash in the drawers of the dresser. Every floor is supposed to have a coffee/refreshment bar. The coffee machine on our floor was broken, beans spilling out of the top. There was not a coffee machine on the floor below us, so we found one on the mezzanine floor. I’ve always enjoyed this hotel in the past, as recently as a year ago, but it seems there is currently a management, staffing and maintenance issue.

Staff wouldn’t let me check in without a credit card for incidentals, travel insurance wasn’t any help, I’ll probably skip it moving forward and recommend you do the same. Unfortunately my Chase credit card was closed for “security reasons” (?) which they haven’t explained to me, I assume because it was unplanned travel. I offered a cash deposit, the staff refused. I guess I’m out in the cold for the night, literally, even though I prepaid and booked through Expedia. Doubt I’ll use Expedia again.

We arrived at 6pm, and were told that our room would be "ready soon." We ended up getting room with a King bed and blow up cot with a view of the parking garage, instead of the double queen with lake view we had reserved. The room wasn't ready till 10pm, although we had reserved in advance, and then the cot had to be replaced at 11pm because it deflated. The room service was completely understaffed, so the engineering and security people were required to deliver the cots...and we were the ones who had to make the cot ourselves (twice). The staff was all stretched to the limit, busy doing the work of two people (at least)--but it seems like it was the hotel's POLICY to accept reservations they couldn't accommodate, because I overheard the manager giving the same story to another family the next night: "Oh, sorry, the room isn't ready yet, we can hold your luggage, hopefully it will be ready soon" The manager WAS apologetic when I complained the next morning, and refunded the cost of the first night and the "resort fee"--but they should never have charged a resort fee because their hotel has no "resort" features in the winter--their pool and hot tub are empty for renovations, and the rest of their special guest services are for summer enjoyment only. I hope that their staff unionizes quick, so they can stop doing the job of multiple people.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The restaurant on site had good food and great drinks. The bartender and servers were very nice. The breakfast buffet was not bad,but could’ve been better. Room was great. Front desk staff were super friendly and helpful. Overall hotel was very comfortable and location is excellent: near Church Street and ECHO Leahy Museum. There were a few unnecessary inconveniences in teh hotel: shower shampoo was empty, the cold water faucet on the sink was loose, and the TV weirdly defaulted to HDMI port 1 but needed to be on HDMI port 2 to get any reception. Finally, the automatic sliding door was broken in the morning, and I thought it unusual that the staff didn't know about it until I told them at 9am. Overall, I'd stay here again in a second.

The staff were responsive and helpful. I paid for two rooms, and both rooms were worn looking. Chipped paint, loose faucets, and stained carpets. Additionally room 620, where I was sleeping was "egged" around 11:30 PM. The sound of an egg hitting a 6th floor window was extremely frightening. And because the temperature was well below freezing we awoke to a window with frozen egg smeared over a significant portion. We reported the egging to the front desk to make them aware. And when we looked at the hotel from the parking deck we could see that many rooms had been egged the night before.
